    A Labour MP has accused Humberside's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) of "spin" over the recruitment of 300 new police officers.

    Great Grimsby MP Melanie Onn described the recruitment drive as "too little too late".

    Humberside Police is replacing officers who are retiring from the force.

  7. Rescuers give up on attempt to save whalepublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2016

    The sperm whale which washed up on a north Norfolk beach earlier today is unlikely to swim back out to sea during high tide according to the team trying to save it.

    The high tide, which arrived at 14:50, covered the whale but so far it has been unable to move.

    Kieran Copeland from the Hunstanton Sealife Sanctuary, external who's been helping with the rescue attempt said: "Possible internal injuries meant the whale was unlikely to survive... their main focus was on keeping it comfortable."

    It's been closed for a large part of the day after an accident.

    Back to the badgers who've been blamed for burrowing through some of Lincolnshire's flood defences.

    It turns out they'll be moved away from areas where they're causing damage.

    The news came earlier today as Boston MP Matt Warman raised the issue in Parliament after seeing damage around the River Steeping near Wainfleet.

    Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst has admitted he'll make changes to the team for the FA trophy game against Havant/Waterlooville at Blundell Park on Saturday.

    But he told me he doesn't expect that to weaken the team as he targets a place in the quarter finals of the competition.

    I had a great time meeting volunteers from Horncastle Luncheon Club who desperately need your help.

    More than 50 people enjoy a meal with them on Wednesdays and Fridays at the town's community centre, but they need more volunteers.

    Two men who hit their neighbour with a karaoke machine in a family row have been sent to prison.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard the pair set about the victim after forcing their way into his house on Ripon Street, Lincoln, in the middle of the night.

    Kyle Jenkins and Joseph Townhill both admitted a charge of burglary. 

    Jenkins, 24, of Broughton Gardens, Lincoln,  and 23-year-old Townhill from the city's Renfrew Road have been jailed for 20 months.

    Experts from Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary say they're hoping the stricken mammal will find it's way back out to sea.

  17. MP: Badgers to blame for flood defence damagepublished at 14:07 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2016

    Boston's MP Matt Warman has told the House of Commons that badgers are increasing the risk of flooding in his constituency.

    Speaking during Department for the Environment questions this morning, Mr Warman said he'd seen evidence of flood defence damage by the animals around the River Steeping.

    He told minister Liz Truss he wanted to see support for an Environment Agency scheme to build artificial setts for badgers - which he says diverts them from digging through river banks and defences.

    Lincolnshire Police want you to look out for Robert Taylor, who's gone missing from his home in Sleaford. 

    He was last seen on Monday at about 11:30 and his family say they're very concerned because he did not have his wallet or medication with him when he left.
