    The A16 near Louth is now reopen after an accident involving four cars and a lorry carrying a caravan earlier this afternoon. Police say it's not thought there were any serious injuries.

    We're hearing about an accident in Old Leake, near Boston, involving a car and a moped.

    Lincolnshire Police say the road's closed at Church End in the village.

  7. Whale watch: Search called offpublished at 16:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2016

    Coastguard teams looking for a whale off the north Norfolk coast have suspended their search.

    It was reported to be "alive and thrashing about" near Mundesley, about 50 miles away from Hunstanton, where a whale died on Thursday.

    The coastguard ended its search after there were no further sightings following the initial report. It said the whale had hopefully returned to deeper waters.

  8. Attempted murder charge after paintball centre attackpublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2016

    A man's been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder after an incident at a paintballing centre which left another man with serious head injuries.

    Police say they were called to the site at Ancaster, near Sleaford, on Saturday afternoon.

    Nathan Joseph, 22,  of no fixed address has been charged and remanded in custody until next month.

    The injured man remains in a serious condition in hospital.

    Scunthorpe United have signed Hull City forward Greg Luer on an initial one-month loan.

    Luer, 21, joined Hull in January 2015 from Isthmian League side Burgess Hill Town before joining Port Vale on loan.

    He has scored twice in six appearances for the Tigers this season, including the winner in Hull's 1-0 Capital One Cup victory over Rochdale.

    Luer will be available for the Iron's game against Southend on Tuesday, with the loan lasting until 8 March.

  10. Man appears in court and denies Grimsby murder chargepublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2016

    A man's appeared in court and denied the murder of William Baker in Grimsby earlier this year.

    Mr Baker (pictured), who was known as Billy, was found dead at a house in Weelsby Street on 6 January.

    Steven Beaumont, 40, of no fixed address, appeared at Hull Crown Court earlier where he pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

    He has been remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 21 April for a pre-trial review. 

    Mr Beaumont is expected to face a trial on 28 June.

    One fire crew is still on the scene at the farm fire in Market Rasen which started this morning. There were three fire engines at the blaze earlier.

    French food lovers will be able to have their fill at the new Côte Brasserie which opens on Lincoln High Street, external this week after a £1 million investment.

    The new restaurant, located in the former Craft Bar, will be able to cater for up to 200 people and has created around 50 new jobs for the local area.

  16. Coastguards continue to search for whale spotted off East Coastpublished at 14:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2016

    Coastguards in North Norfolk are continuing to search for a whale that has been spotted in shallow waters. 

    It was first seen at 10 o'clock this morning thrashing around 400 yards off the coast near Mundesley. 

    Since then it hasn't been seen. It's hoped the whale has managed to get out of the shallow waters and escape.

    In recent weeks 4 have washed up in Lincolnshire and 2 in Norfolk.

    Just spoken with the Gainsborough Trinity manager Steve Housham who says there’s no problems with the pitch at the Northolme ahead of tonight’s National League North fixture with Brackley Town.

    Saturday’s home match was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch and Housham says barring any major downpours, tonight’s match will go ahead.

    Sounds like a lot of money doesn't it - £5m? That's how much extra Lincolnshire County Council's got from the government today.

    I've been talking to the leader of the authority Councillor Martin Hill just now. He says the extra money could make a difference to his cuts agenda.

    Slashing rural bus routes and closing Sure Start centres for families have hit the headlines in the last few days - and the council leader says the money could reduce the impact on these services.

    But he adds government cuts still have four years to run. So there's more uncertainty to come, despite this multi-million pound grant.
