    Scunthorpe United have released veteran winger Gary McSheffrey.

    The 33-year-old made 80 league appearances for the Iron after joining in January 2014, but finished the season on loan at Doncaster.

    A spectacular community event this summer to commemorate Lincoln's history needs your help. 

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Lincoln 16 - Green Fields Beyond will be held in the city in July and will focus on Lincoln as the birthplace of the tank.

  6. Pensioner admits possessing 21,000 illegal cigarettespublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    A Mablethorpe pensioner admitted possession of more than 21,000 illegal cigarettes in one of the biggest hauls uncovered by Lincolnshire Trading Standards.

    Bernard Brownson, 71, of Rugby Road, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £3,538.52 at Boston Magistrates Court.

    Brownson admitted seven charges after the seizure of  21,640 cigarettes. The council says it was the second largest seizure so far this financial year.

  7. Hospice bosses develop 'bereavement app'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    St Barnabas Hospice in Lincolnshire has created a mobile phone app to help people deal with bereavement. 

    The charity says The Good Goodbye is designed to encourage conversations about death and dying. 

    It's been released today on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

    Royal British Legion Standard Bearers join Lincoln MP Karl McCartney and Louth and Horncastle MP Victoria Atkins on the Houses of Parliament terrace as part of a recent visit.

    It was organised by Mr McCartney as a way of recognising their service to the county.

    Patricia Bradwell the deputy leader at Lincolnshire County Council has been unveiled as the new Children's Commissioner in Rotherham.

    She'll take on the role at Rotherham Council which has been severely criticised after a series of cases involving child sexual exploitation.

    She's been appointed by the Department for Communites and Local Government but will keep her jobs at Lincolnshire County Council.

  13. Scunthorpe MP: SATS leak 'unacceptable'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Scunthorpe MP Nic Dakin has been speaking in the Commons over a blunder which saw today's SATS test for primary school children leaked online.

    Mr Dakin, who was a school headteacher before being elected to the Commons, is now Labour's schools' spokesman. 

    He said what's happened is "unacceptable".

    The government has ordered an investigation into how the grammar, punctuation and spelling test being taken by all 10 and 11-year-old children today was published online.

    The new Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner thinks the recent reorganisation of the force has been poorly managed. 

    Keith Hunter won the PCC election last Thursday and replaces Matthew Grove.

    Mr Hunter says the force - which covers North and North East Lincolnshire - hasn't been good enough and it shouldn't be making excuses.

  17. Councillor calls for Serco fine 'to be put to good use'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    A senior opposition councillor at Lincolnshire County Council, Rob Parker (pictured), says a £1m fine on Serco should be put to good use and not just sit in the coffers. 

    The money has been withheld following a catalogue of errors since the company took over financial services for the authority.

    Headteachers and firefighters are among the council employees who have complained over Serco's handling of council cash.

    Serco says it is making progress but recognises its performance has not met the required standards.
