The £1.75m centre should be open by the end of the month.

  7. Football: Cowley confirms Imps interest in him for manager's jobpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Rob Makepeace
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

Braintree manager Danny Cowley has now confirmed to the BBC that Lincoln City have made a formal approach to the Essex club for his services.

Cowley says he was told by the Braintree chairman yesterday, but he hadn't been aware of the Imps' interest before that.

    Danny Cowley

Cowley recently guided the Essex side to the National League play-offs.

Lincoln City have been looking for a new boss after Chris Moyses announced he was stepping down.

Police are investigating a series of arson attacks in the lower High Street area of Lincoln including an incident which saw a mobility scooter torched.

  11. Football: Boston's Southwell 'won't go cheaply'published at 10:09 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Martin Slack
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Boston United manager Dennis Greene says he wouldn't stand in the way if a club from a higher division came in for striker Dayle Southwell.

The 22-year-old has netted more than 50 goals in two seasons with the Pilgrims who failed in a bid for promotion to the National League at the weekend.

Greene told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "It's whether a club wants to take a gamble on what the fee's going to be.

If Dayle goes we'll find somebody else."

  13. Anger over plans to scrap 24-hour fire coverpublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Martin Slack
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Lincolnshire could be the first county in Britain to scrap 24-hour fire service cover under money-saving plans.

Changes to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have been branded "a farce" by people who took part in a meeting with fire chiefs last night.

    fire engines

Lincolnshire County Council is considering stopping 24-hour staffing of the South Park Station in Lincoln - the only station left in the county to have round-the-clock coverage.

Crews would be on call instead. It would save £1.7m over the next three years - but it would make Lincolnshire the only county in the country without any 24-hour fire cover at all.

  14. BBC Newsnight to host migration special from Boston tonightpublished at 09:19 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Scott Dalton
    Presenter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Newsnight presenter Evan Davis joined me this morning to share details of a special programme being broadcast from Boston tonight.

The BBC2 flagship show will broadcast from Boston Stump to examine the issue of migration as the EU Referendum approaches next month.

    Evan Davis

Evan was joined by the vicar of the Stump Rev Alyson Buxton - he warned her not to let the production team move the altar in the church for the broadcast! Hopefully he was joking...

    The programme's on BBC2 from 22.30.

  16. Serco fined £1m after 'chaos' in council financepublished at 08:50 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    Martin Slack
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Lincolnshire County Council has docked more than £1m from a private company contracted to provide school and council financial services in Lincolnshire.

Serco took over some financial systems from Lincolnshire County Council last April. But there are complaints that those systems "are in chaos".

    Serco

Figures released to BBC Radio Lincolnshire show the authority has penalised the company by an average £100,000 a month over the first year of the contract.

Council leader Martin Hill says the firm is making "steady progress" and withholding the cash provides an incentive for things to improve quickly.

  17. Health check for busy Grimsby bridgepublished at 08:29 British Summer Time 10 May 2016

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Grimsby's landmark Corporation Road Bridge will be closed today for a routine check-up.

The bridge is 100 years old so you can't blame the engineers for wanting to make sure it's still in good order.

And just in case you were interested it's a rolling lift bascule bridge which opens over the Old Dock in the town.
