The parents of a six-year-old who fell into a lake in Skegness have thanked the man who saved their son's life.

Richard and Julie Weston were enjoying a family day out at Fairy Dell when their son Tommy fell into the old boating lake.

Hearing his screams, council worker, Jack Layton, ran over and jumped in the water, dragging the little boy out.

Dad, Richard, from Skegness, said: "We only turned our backs for a second and Tommy had fallen in.

"We could hear his brother screaming, and started running towards him, but before we knew it a man had jumped in a dragged him out.

"He was terrified, really distressed, and had got quite cold in the water. We just want to say thank you to the guy and make sure he is recognised for what he did."

Jack Layton, a street scene operative at East Lyndsey Council, said he only did what anyone else would do.

He added: "He was very shocked and I understand why his parents are so relieved, but I only reacted in the way anyone else would do."

A Skegness horse rider says she's looking forward to a competition in the county this weekend which will pit disabled competitors against their able-bodied rivals. 

The ES UK Championships are taking place at Allington, near Grantham and Evie Toombes, who's 14, will be taking part. 

And with the Rio Olympics on the horizon Evie, who has spina bifida, says she's hopeful para-showjumping will become part of the paralympics in future.

Holidaymakers will be able to use the paddling pool at Cleethorpes again from today. 

It was closed during the hottest week of the year almost two weeks ago, while the plant room underwent repair works to bring it in line with health and safety standards.

Some questioned why the work hadn't been carried out before the summer season began.

But the council said it had to ensure it meets standards and is now in full working order in time for most of the school holidays.

The Woodland Trust says it's spent thousands of pounds over the last five years on fly-tipping at one of its Lincolnshire sites.

It's after the latest spate which has seen a burnt out car, waste timber, carpet and lino at Londonthorpe Wood in Grantham.

The historic Magna Carta will be returned to its vault at Lincoln Castle later today.

The 800 year old document was removed earlier this year following a rise in humidity because of a small leak in the roof.

Will Brown, county heritage manager, said: "Thank you to our visitors who have been patient and to everyone who has played a part in getting Magna Carta home."

Charter of the Forest is now in a 'rest period' before celebrations begin next year to celebrate its 800th anniversary. 

Meanwhile, Henry VIII's 1225 Charter is on display alongside Magna Carta in the vault.

A former Lincoln MP has criticised Jeremy Corbyn's decision to nominate the head of Labour's Anti-Semitism inquiry for a peerage. 

Shami Chakrabarti's inquiry reported in June that the party was not "overrun" by anti-Semitism. 

Gillian Merron, the chief executive of The Board of Deputies of British Jews says she's unhappy about the appointment:   

She said: "It's beyond disappointing. This is an award of a peerage for a delivery of a report which was something of a whitewash."

Children in Boston are urging adults not to smoke in their play parks. 

Some posters created by two local schoolchildren have been put up in St John's and Garfits Lane play areas. 

It's part of a national project which is being piloted in Boston. 

Headteacher of St George's Prep school, Sarah Whelan, says they're also strict with parents smoking in the playground.
