Figures revealed to BBC Look North show the number of serious domestic abuse cases across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire has tripled since 2010.
The data - from The University of Hull - shows In 2010 there were 662 cases which were likely to result in serious harm.
In 2015 that figure had risen to nearly 2,000.
Those working in the field of domestic violence say the rise is down to an increased awareness.
