    Martin Slack

Thanks for being with us today, we'll be back at 08.00 tomorrow.

Just before we go - let's remind ourselves of five things we didn't know when we kicked off this morning:

    1. It's OK to lose your rag after you're disqualified from a 10km Olympic swim
    2. Sutton on Sea's a great place to help BBC Radio Lincolnshire hit it's million-mile walking target
    3. Shirley Bassey can be used to illustrate how hot the weather's going to be
    4. Lincoln will get it's £30m transport hub after some uncertainty over when the funding would come through.
    5. Tory councillors in Lincolnshire supporting a cut in their own numbers

  2. Official statement from Jack Burnell after Rio disqualificationpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

  4. Councillor cutbacks on the agendapublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

We're often telling you about council cutbacks here - but now there's a scheme in place to cut councillors themselves.

In fact, there could be seven fewer councillors on Lincolnshire County Council in the future.

    Lincolnshire County Council

A recommendation's been put forward by the Boundary Commission for England which would see the authority represented by 70 members - instead of 77.

The proposed new arrangements must now be implemented by Parliament if they're to take effect next year.

It's being supported by the leading Tory group, but opposed by Labour

  5. Cathedral rises from the mistpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Here's a beautiful picture sent in by Michael Bratley from Bracebridge Heath this morning. He's captured the mist on the fields with Lincoln Cathedral on the horizon. Stunning.

This tweet from the RNLI shows both the resort's lifeboats were launched this afternoon - still no official word on the "ongoing incident" the coastguard says is going on.

  8. Cricket: Lincolnshire beat Staffordshirepublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    James Lobley
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire Sport

Lincolnshire have won their minor counties match away at Staffordshire by eight wickets.

They wrapped up their second innings in just over two hours - ending on 207 for 2.

If Northumberland beat Cambridgeshire - or draw - then Lincolnshire have won the league.

We'll confirm if that's the case later.

  9. WATCH: Angry Jack Burnell reacts to 10km swim disqualificationpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Martin Slack
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Imagine spending four years training and two hours in the water - only to be disqualified.

Lincolnshire's Jack Burnell spoke to Sir Matthew Pinsent straight after he left the water.

To say he's upset is an understatement - but if it was me I'd have been less restrained...

  10. British marathon swimmer questions Jack Burnell disqualificationpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

British marathon swimmer Keri-anne Payne (pictured left) tweeted her outrage after hearing that her fellow swimmer Lincolnshire's Jack Burnell was disqualified earlier.

The pair have been offering each other moral support throughout their time in Rio.

    Quote Message

I don't know what to say about the race finish there - Jack was DQ'D (disqualified) and we don't know why?"

  12. Rio: Lincolnshire swimmer not a happy man after disqualificationpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    BBC Sport

More from Jack Burnell after his disqualification: "Apparently I was disqualified two metres from end.

"I felt a hand on my leg and it stops me dead, I took a few more strokes and he is still on my foot.

"Words can't describe it. So much brutal hard work has gone into it and it is ruined by a couple of judges.

"We are going to put an appeal in but it will do absolutely nothing. They probably will just dismiss it.

"This is the grandest stage of all and it is ruined by a couple of judges."

  15. Disqualification heartbreak for Jack in marathon swimpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Rob Makepeace
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire sport

Lincolnshire swimmer Jack Burnell's been disqualified after an incredibly close finish in the Olympic 10km swim off Copacabana beach.

Jack had led the field for a few moments but was involved in a photo finish at the end.

The results took some time to compile after so many swimmers reached the finish line at the same time.

It's not yet clear why the North Hykeham swimmer was eliminated from the results table.

  16. Council chief's 'delight' as hub funding confirmedpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Sharon Edwards
    Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

I've been speaking to Angela Andrews, the chief executive of the City of Lincoln Council this morning after the Government confirmed it was giving the city £11m towards it's new transport hub.

Mrs Andrews had been forced to put the work on hold until the cash was confirmed by Whitehall officials, so it's come as a major relief to be able to say work will begin soon.

This is the latest artist's impression released by the council - it shows a footbridge over the railway, which will follow as part of the second phase of the project.

  17. Stage set for Jesus Christ Superstarpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Martin Slack
    BBC Lincolnshire Live

Last year it was a massive success, so the people behind a community production of Jesus Christ Superstar are bringing it back.

Tickets for the performance - which will run from August 22 until August 30 - sold out in five hours, with those for an extra date shifting in just seven minutes.

All the profit from the production goes to the cathedral, but if you were hoping to get hold of a seat - you're out of luck.

But here's what the stage will look like. Scant consolation I realise.

The family of Claire and Charlotte Hart are saying their private goodbyes this afternoon after a public funeral at their local village church.

The coffins of Claire Hart and her daughter Charlotte, bearing simple floral tributes, were carried through hundreds of mourners in Moulton, near Spalding.

    Claire and Charlotte Hart funeral

Lance Hart killed his wife Claire who was 50 and 19 year old Charlotte in Spalding last month. He then turned the gun on himself.

Charlotte was described as kind and delicate and it was said both mother and daughter were always at their happiest when they made others happy.
