How many more will pack their bags and run away now the going is getting tough. MPs need to remember they are where they are because the people have voted for them on the hope that they will do right by the people and follow through their wishes."

    Quote Message

There will be more, but i think that Article 50 should have been invoked in August, and that May should now stand down over her poor handling of Brexit so far. Time for a general election!"

I think it's interesting that he resigned rather than defecting."

  19. Stephen Phillips resignation: Another political headache for Theresa May?published at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2016

    Tom Bateman
    Political Correspondent, Millbank

The resignation of Sleaford and North Hykeham Conservative MP Stephen Phillips adds to a very difficult time for Downing Street after that legal ruling yesterday.

    Stephen Phillips

This makes a slim government majority even slimmer.

Don't forget that the government has already lost one Conservative MP, Zac Goldsmith, over a different issue - that of Heathrow.

Mr Phillips' resignation creates another headache for Theresa May, and what is becoming an increasingly difficult and complex time for her after Brexit.

It will take place in the New Year.

The scheme would see the construction of a new tidal barrier with a moveable gate across the River Witham and a new building to enable operation of the barrier, along with new flood defences on both banks of the River Haven.

The project aims to reduce the risk of flooding and protect more than 14,000 homes in the area, according to the Environment Agency.
