    The warning is in place from 14:00 to 21:00 and covers South Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

    The forecaster says there could be a chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly and there could be a chance of power cuts.

    There's still a yellow warning of thunderstorms in place for tomorrow, external which covers the whole of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

    This was the scene near the British Steel plant on Brigg Road, Scunthorpe, a little earlier.

    The site went into lockdown after information received by the firm led to a "security alert".

    The plant continued to work normally and has now reopened, according to British Steel:

    Information received by British Steel earlier this morning led to a "security alert" at the firm's Scunthorpe plant earlier, it's been confirmed.

    The company reported the information to the police and said it was working closely with them.

    The site remained operating normally, according to British Steel, and has now reopened.

    It is not yet clear what the nature of the security threat was.

    Scunthorpe steelworks is currently on lockdown with no vehicles allowed to leave or enter, it's being reported.

    A number of eyewitnesses say they've seen a large number of officers from Humberside Police at the British steel site on Brigg Road.

    The company is expected to make a statement in the next hour.

  5. New NHS dentists promised for Lincolnshirepublished at 08:00

    Lincolnshire is to get four new NHS dental practices and a replacement for one which closed last year, it's emerged.

    The new practices will open in Spalding, Sleaford, Boston and Lincoln in Janurary 2019.

    A replacement for the former NHS dental service at Johnson Community Hospital in Pinchbeck is also being built.

    The new surgeries will amount to an annual investment of £3.39m for the 10-year contract period, according to NHS England.

    When they're up and running it's thought they'll be able to treat an extra 40,000 patients in the county.

    The exact locations of the new surgeries will be announced soon.

    Health bosses have agreed a plan to replace an overnight service at Grantham Hospital at a meeting today.

    A nurse-led minor injuries unit was set up following the closure of the town's A&E overnight service, two years ago, but it turned out to be expensive.

    NHS managers say over a 12-month period, the nurse-led unit saw only 65 patients.

    The service cost £130,000, which is £2000 per patient seen.

    They agreed there will now no longer be a nurse-led unit, but it will be replaced with an out-of-hours GP service accessed by the NHS 111 number.

    Fire fighters are tackling a fire which has broken out in a field in Great Hale, near Heckington.

    The blaze started just before 15:00 and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said six engines had been called to the scene.

  11. Grimsby ambulance staff have 'low morale'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 July 2018

    Thames Ambulance staff in Grimsby have "low morale" and still feel "disengaged", according to inspectors.

    The Care Quality Commission (CQC) , externalcarried out a follow-up inspection of the service in May, after they issued a warning to Thames back in February.

    Inspectors found some improvements had been made, but felt that more needed to be done at the Grimsby site.

    Thames currently provide non-emergency patient transport in Grimsby and Lincolnshire, but the firm was recently stripped of its contract for North Lincolnshire.

    According to the report, external, improvements were found in job clarity, safeguarding and incident reporting.

    It added that inspectors found "gradual positive" improvements to the work culture at Thames, following the service being described as "inept and disorganised" by staff at a previous inspection.

    Derek Laird, the chief executive officer at Thames, said he welcomed the feedback from the CQC and the service is addressing the issues raised.

    Police say that the incident in Wrangle, near Boston, left the child with significant injuries.

    She remains in a critical condition.

    Police are investigating the circumstances and no-one has been arrested.

    The Imps are currently developing a training ground off the A15, near to the RAF station.

    The MoD announced yesterday the home of the Red Arrows would be closed and sold.

    Clive Nates said although the club's looking at a stadium site closer to Lincoln city centre, he was keeping other options open.

    A one-year-old child remains in a critical condition following an incident involving a vehicle and a trailer in Lincolnshire last night.

    Police say they were called to an address in Wrangle at about 19:45 yesterday.

    The girl is said to have suffered significant injuries and was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    Lifeguards are calling for more care using inflatables at sea after a family got into trouble at Sutton-On-Sea beach earlier this week.

    Lifeguard Laura Horsley (pictured) helped a family who'd gone out too far in the water in a bid to retrieve an inflatable dolphin which had drifted out to sea.

    The family were "becoming out of their depth" when she leapt into action yesterday, according to the RNLI.

    Ms Horsley helped a mother and her daughter onto her rescue board to help them return to the coastline.

    The Mablethorpe Marathon has been cancelled for the second year in a row.

    Organisers say too few runners have entered the event, which was due to take place in October.

    They are also blaming the cost of delivering events such as marathons.

    Police have named a man whose body was found in a lake in north Lincolnshire on Monday.

    The body of 23-year-old Maciej Dymowski, from Scunthorpe, was discovered at Ashby Ville by a member of the public.

    Police are still investigating the circumstances of the death.

    Humberside Police say they've haven't determined yet whether an outbreak of blue algae was involved in the man's death.

    A burst pipe has left people in the Spalding area without water this morning.

    Anglian Water say it is also causing low pressure in the south of the town, and in villages nearby.

    The utility company says they hope for it to be fixed and back to normal by 14:00 today.
