    A 20-year-old man has admitted causing serious injury to a dog walker after losing control of his car.

    Luke Booth, from Reepham near Lincoln, came off the road on Mill Hill in Nettleham in January last year.

    Oliver Samkin suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull when he was hit by the car.

    Booth pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Lincoln Crown Court.

    He will be sentenced in August.

    A man was punched to the floor and sustained several fractures during an attack in Grimsby, police say.

    The incident happened on Tuesday 3 January at about 14:30.

    A 21-year-old man was walking down Castle Street in Grimsby when he was allegedly punched in the back of his head.

    He was knocked to the ground where he was further assaulted, resulting in a fractured jaw and eye socket.

    Police are appealing to anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

    The Met Office has issued an amber warning for the East Midlands, because of a 90% chance of heatwave conditions from now until Friday morning.

    The oppressive heat has caused a combine harvester to overheat near Gainsborough, causing a fire in a wheat field yesterday (pictured).

    The weather service is advising you to take extra precautions to make sure you stay cool.

    It's also recommending that you take steps to look after vulnerable and elderly relatives or neighbours, who may need help keeping cool in high temperatures.

    Temperatures are predicted to stay as high as 29C for most of this week.

    A book revealing first-hand insight into the murder of a mother and daughter in Spalding has been released.

    Claire and Charlotte Hart were murdered in broad daylight by Claire's husband and Charlotte's father.

    Lance Hart used a sawn-off shotgun to kill them and then took his own life.

    Charlotte's surviving brothers, Luke and Ryan Hart ,have spoken publicly about the domestic abuse their family faced at the hands of their father.

    It's thought Tesco is planning a "new format" store in Immingham, possibly called Jack's after the firm's founder Jack Cohen.

    A record number of seals have been released back into the wild this year, according to staff at a sanctuary on the Lincolnshire coast.

    Members of the team at Natureland Seal Sanctuary in Skegness say they usually look after between 30 and 40 seals a year, but in the last 12 months they've nursed 57 back to health.

    Residents in a Lincolnshire village have given their old phone box a new lease of life - by turning it into an art gallery.

    People are being encouraged to send postcards from their holidays to be displayed in the former phonebox in Swinderby, between Lincoln and Newark.

    Simon Longson, who's behind the plan, says the idea will help keep the 70-year-old phone box part of village life.

    The charity says the average spend for a family across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire is £130.89 a week.

    The cost of holiday childcare has also risen by 5% in Yorkshire and the Humber since last summer.

    Two people arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman from Nottinghamshire in Ingoldmells on Saturday have been released on bail.

    Caroline Fisher, 52, from Eastwood, died in hospital after the brawl at Buzz Bar in Sea Lane, in the Lincolnshire seaside town.

    The 30-year-old woman and 31-year-old man were bailed in the early hours of this morning.

    A 29-year-old woman has been released with no further action.

    The body of a man has been pulled from water in Scunthorpe.

    Humberside Police say they received reports of a body in the water near the steel works in Ashbyville, Scunthorpe at 08:45.

    They attended the scene and recovered a body from the water.

    Police officers are now trying to establish the identity of the dead person.

    Construction work has begun on a new £7.8m mental health unit for young people in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

    The go-ahead for construction work to begin was given earlier in July.

    The centre, which will be based in Hull, is for teenagers aged between 13-18 years and is expected to be open by autumn next year.

    Caroline Fisher was taken to hospital after police were called to Buzz Bar, in Sea Lane, on Friday night, but she died later.

    A murder investigation's been launched following the death of the 52-year-old, who's from Eastwood in Nottinghamshire.

    Two women and a man, all from South Yorkshire, who were arrested on suspicion of murder remain in police custody.
