    The first weekly street food market starts in Lincoln today.

    Lots of different stalls, offering a range of street food, have been installed in City Square.

    There'll also be entertainment from some of the county's best buskers.

    The event is being run every Friday between 10:00 and 19:00.

  4. 'Ghost town' fears over closure of RAF Scamptonpublished at 10:13 British Summer Time 5 October 2018

    People living near RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire say the area will turn into a "ghost town" when the Ministry of Defence moves out.

    It was announced in July that the site, which is currently home to the Red Arrows, will be closed and sold off in four years time.

    Local councils are due to meet MoD representatives later this month amid concerns about what will happen to the site.

    In May 1943, Lancaster bombers of 617 Squadron left RAF Scampton to carry out the famous "Dambuster" air raids on the dams of the Ruhr valley.

    The 102-year-old base has been at the heart of RAF operations ever since.

    The head of Lincolnshire's planned new medical school says he wants it to be the best in the country.

    Professor Daniel McLaughlin will be the Dean of the new school, which will be run by the University of Lincoln.

    The university's plans include a £21.1m new building.

    It will feature state-of-the-art facilities.

    Hundreds more council homes could be built every year following the lifting of a government cap on borrowing, it's being claimed.

    In her speech to the Conservative Party conference Theresa May announced new borrowing powers for councils to build more homes.

    A cap on the amount councils can borrow to fund new developments doesn't make sense and would be scrapped, she said.

    Councillor Gary Porter, leader of South Holland Council and chairman of the Local Government Association, has said this is "hugely significant" for Lincolnshire.

    The Conservative councillor said: "We should all be putting up 100 [houses] a year easily on the money that will be available."

    Video has been released of the moment police found thousands of hidden illegal cigarettes at a shop in Boston.

    Bierdronka, on the High Street, was raided by officers who found the potentially dangerous cigarettes.

    Some of the cigarettes do no self-extinguish.

    Illegal cigarettes in the past have been found to contain rat droppings, sawdust or human excrement mixed with the tobacco:

    Around 600 cans of non-duty paid beer were also found.

    The shop has been stripped of its license to sell alcohol.

    The owners have 21 days to appeal.

  11. Drugs worth millions seized at Imminghampublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 4 October 2018

    Drugs with a street value of around £3m have been seized at Immingham Docks.

    A joint operation between the National Crime Agency and the Border Force found around 35kg of cocaine and heroin and 250kg of cannabis last Friday.

    The drugs were found on a ship which had travelled overnight from Rotterdam.

    This man of flowers is in the town to promote a series of plays being put on across the country by the Royal Exchange Theatre.

    The Mysteries Tour is a cycle of six different plays exploring how we all live alongside each other.

    Tomorrow and Saturday they are in Boston, external where: "The accidental death of a child forces a group of Bostonians to confront what community means to them and who they’re prepared to help."
