    Plans for hundreds of new homes in a village near Lincoln look set to be rejected again by councillors despite public support in the area.

    The plan would see 325 houses, a café and office space built as part of an extension to Newton-on-Trent.

    The resubmitted proposals will go back to West Lindsey District Council next week.

    Officers say the development would be in a flood risk area, but the applicant has strong community support.

    Police have released some details of the three people who died in a house fire in Kirton and said they believe the person who started the blaze died in the fire.

    A woman, 27, and two men, aged 24 and 32, perished in the blaze.

    They were British citizens but were not members of the same family, officers said.

    Senior councillors in Boston have proposed a 2.99% council tax hike as part the local authority’s budget plans.

    The move would see the council increase its share of the rate in an effort to balance its books in 2019/20.

    It would see the authority increase the rate for an average band D property from £183.60 to £189.09.

    Boston Borough Council’s cabinet will meet to discuss the proposal at a meeting on 9 January.

    The Lincolnshire charity behind plans to put up a huge roadside sculpture of a Lancaster Bomber says it still needs to raise thousands of pounds.

    The charity hopes the 30m tall structure can be built in a field off the A46 near Lincoln, with the aircraft carrying the markings of a bomber based at the former RAF Swinderby airfield nearby.

    But Ken Sadler, chairman of the Bomber County Gateway Trust, says there are still insufficient funds for the memorial to go ahead:

    Police have launched a "domestic-related murder investigation" into a fatal house fire in Kirton which has killed three people.

    Two other people remain in hospital following the blaze at a house on Peartree Road in the early hours of New Year's Day.

    A regional crime unit is now leading the investigation, but police say they're not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire.

    However, they want to speak to anyone who has information about the people who lived in the house or who may have dashcam footage of the street before the fire was reported.

    A regional crime squad has taken over the investigation into a fatal blaze that killed one person and left two others in hospital.

    The East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit has been seen using a drone at the property in Kirton.

    The unit is responsible for investigating things like organised crime, major crime and oversees counter terrorism operations.

    We told you earlier that it could take days to find out the cause of the fire.

    It could take "days" to work out what caused a fatal house fire in Kirton near Boston on New Year's Day, police say.

    One person died and two others were taken to hospital after the blaze on Peartree Road in the early hours of 1 January.

    A woman has been seriously injured after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a house near Spalding, damaging a gas pipe.

    The incident happened just after midnight on New Year's Day.

    The woman, who was driving a VW Touran, is believed to have collided with a Ford Escort on Bourne Road in Pode Hole before crashing into the house.

    She was taken to Peterborough Hospital and then transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. The extent of her injuries isn't known.

    The domestic gas pipe which was damaged in the crash has now been repaired, police say.
