    Clarke, who used to play for Chelsea, has been at Reading for nearly a year and led them to an FA Cup semi final appearance last season.

    An announcement could be made later today.

    There are reports this morning that Reading manager Steve Clarke is on the verge of taking over at Fulham. 

    The Cottagers are looking for a permanent replacement for Kit Symons who was sacked earlier this month.

    The Press Association understands Clarke will move from Berkshire to west London and the deal is subject to personal terms.    

  4. Aldgate Tube reopens after report of suspicious personpublished at 09:38

    British Transport Police received a report at 08:46 of a suspicious person in Aldgate Tube station and people on Twitter reported seeing officers running in to deal with the situation.

    The station was evacuated and a search of the station was carried out but no-one was traced.  

    Passengers were allowed back into the station shortly after 09:00, a police spokesman said.

    The Metropolitan, Hammersmith and City and Circle lines were affected by the station closure but are now resuming normal service.

  6. Man wanted over sex attack on night-bus passengerpublished at 09:18

    Police have released CCTV images, external of a man they want to trace after a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on a night bus in Lewisham.

    She was approached on Sunday, 16 August at about 02:15 BST on a route N47 bus travelling towards Catford on the A21.

    Police said the suspect is described as possibly of Eastern European appearance, with a large nose, wearing a black leather jacket, light-coloured shirt, and black jeans.

    London Fire Brigade has reported a spike in the number of call outs to fires involving the Vauxhall Zafira B model.

    The manufacturer has recalled 220,000 of the cars made between 2005-2014.

    It comes after about 200 fires were reported that originated behind the glove-box in the heating and ventilation system.

    In London alone, 24 such fires were reported in 2013 - more than double the number recorded between 2009 and 2012.

    Ken Livingstone has "unreservedly apologised" after branding a Labour MP "disturbed", saying he should "seek psychiatric help".

    A Labour defence spokesman, Kevan Jones, who has suffered from depression in the past, clashed with the former mayor of London over the party's policy on nuclear weapons.

    Mr Jones said he found the words "gravely offensive" and Mr Livingstone originally refused to apologize.

  9. Globe announces Shakespeare shorts to be screened for 400th anniversarypublished at 08:36

    Short film versions of Shakespeare's 37 plays are to be shown on giant screens next year to mark the 400th anniversary of his death.

    Each 10-minute film will be screened along a two-mile stretch of the River Thames on 23-24 April.

  11. Travel update: Replacement bus on Greater Anglia and queues on Victoria Embankmentpublished at 08:03

    Tubes: There is a good service on the Underground apart from minor delays on the Piccadilly Line because of a lack of available trains.

    Trains: A replacement bus service continues for Greater Anglia , externalbetween Marks Tey and Sudbury because of a train shortage. It is adding an extra 40 minutes to the journey.

    Roads: New arrangements go in today for the ongoing Cycle Superhighway works in the Upper Thames St Tunnel. The East Tunnel is now closed so traffic is down to a single lane through the West Tunnel. Eastbound traffic is queueing back along the Victoria Embankment.
