Plane Stupid spokesman Cameron Kaye said: "If aviation growth isn't reduced, by 2037 aviation alone could emit all of the carbon it's safe for the UK to emit.

"The government needs to choose: build new runways or stop climate chaos: it's that simple."

In July, Plane Stupid activists delayed flights by chaining themselves together on the runway.

    BBC Radio London

Transport for London tells me it is expecting the recent problems on the Piccadilly Line to continue for a few more days.

The RMT says there have been six consecutive days of disruption.

TfL has previously admitted there is a lack of trains and it is repairing them as soon as possible. The RMT says it is due to a "lack of investment".

The Mayor and Transport for London have approved proposals for the move, which will "benefit drivers and customers," TfL said.

The final stage in approving the plans will come in February.

A demonstration near the inbound tunnel of Heathrow airport is causing havoc for travellers.

A Heathrow spokesperson said: "We can confirm there is a protest taking place in the inbound tunnel which is currently affecting traffic around the central terminal area and terminals 2 and 3 at Heathrow."

Police said they are dealing with the protest and no arrests have been made.

They have put a contraflow in place in the northbound Tunnel, so some traffic is on the move but the southbound queues are back to junction 4 of the M4 at West Drayton.

The M4 is slow westbound and the A4 Bath Road has heavy traffic westbound through Longford.

It's the sixth morning in a row that services on the line have been disrupted, the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said.

It warned of a "crisis" on one of London's busiest lines.

"The chronic shortage of rolling stock on the Piccadilly Line has been severely exposed yet again this morning," said RMT General Secretary Mick Cash.

"This was a crisis that we said was coming and is wholly down to a lack of investment and corner-cutting."

The RMT is in dispute with London Underground on the Piccadilly Line over a range of issues, claiming that a number of trains are out of action because of faults.

Earlier this week, BBC London Transport correspondent Tom Edwards explained why there was a shortage of trains on the line.
