  5. Coming up on Vanessa Feltz: Why the perception racism has increased 50 years on from the Race Relations Act?published at 08:48

    Vanessa Feltz
    BBC Radio London presenter

From 09:00 on BBC London Radio

We'll be talking about it being 50 years since the first Race Relations Act came in and the fact people believe racism has increased rather than decrease which seems remarkable.

I always thought if we knew people from different countries and different religions, and went to school with them, and they were our doctor and teacher and next door neighbour and our boyfriend and our girlfriend that the whole thing would just evaporate because there wouldn't be the xenophobia you are supposed to feel about people you don't know.

This coincides with Donald Trump saying Muslims should be stopped from entering the US - he's still top of the polls, and the rise of fascism in France.
