    A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital after the ceiling of a jewellers collapsed in the City of London. 

    The man suffered head injuries in the accident at the jewellers in Moorgate at about 13:22, London Ambulance Service, external said.

    Londoners are paying the most nationally for their gas, according to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, external (DECC) although the average electricity and gas bill has fallen by about £45 a year.

  7. London bus stops embrace e-paperpublished at 17:45

    Transport for London is trialling e-paper bus stops that can display real-time travel information. 

    Fitted with solar-powered panels, they show how long passengers have to wait for the next buses, as well as route maps and timetables. 

     Four bus stops have been fitted with the tech so far.

    Angus told BBC London News: "When the decoration hit me it felt like a slap on the shoulder, then a rattle as it landed on the pavement next to me. I guess I'm lucky that it didn't hit me with its pointed end!"

    Crown Estate, external, which looks after the decorations, said: “We are aware that a number of diamond-shaped decorations have come loose during high winds. 

    "We place the highest priority on health and safety and our specialist installation team are on-site and continuing to keep the situation under review, including undertaking testing and reinforcement of the decorations.”

  15. London teen dies in Birmingham stabbingpublished at 16:15

    The family of 15-year-old Jamar Walker, who died after being stabbed in a street "fracas", have asked people not to judge why he was out late at night.

    Jamar was found stabbed in his upper leg at about 02:20 on Sunday in Smethwick, West Midlands, and died later in hospital.

    He had recently moved from Lewisham, London, to Handsworth in Birmingham.

  18. Hatton Garden trial: Defendant deleted information from SatNavpublished at 14:53

    One of the men accused of the Hatton Garden heist has admitted deleting records on his SatNav after his uncle was arrested in connection with the burglary. 

    Taxi driver Jon Harbinson, 42, who denies his role in the burglary, was caught on surveillance cameras driving to the Old Wheatsheaf pub inn Enfield where bags were removed from it.

    He told the jury: "I dropped bags off, they'd gone into the boot of a car, and then they'd been arrested for a multi million pound burglary I knew nothing about. 

    "I wouldn't take stolen property into my home and put my wife and kids in danger," he said. 

    Harbinson told the jury he had felt an "array of emotions" including shame and embarrassment following his arrest. "I felt stupid. Naive. For trusting someone."
