  2. Travel: Signal failure at Farringdonpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    A signal failure at Farringdon is causing severe delays on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. The Metropolitan line is also part suspended between Baker Street and Aldgate because of the problem.

    There is queuing traffic on Tower Bridge road in Bermondsey between the Bricklayers Arms and Tower Hill around the roadworks area.

    And an accident on the A214 Trinity Road in Wandsworth has partially blocked the road southbound between the Windmill Road junction and Magdalen Road junction.

  4. Watch: Shop burgled in Bermondseypublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    Scotland Yard , externalhas released footage of a Co-op being burgled in Bermondsey.

    The CCTV shows three men smashing the lower half of the glass front door, then entering the shop and jumping behind the counter.

    After putting quantities of tobacco, cigarettes and scratchcards into a bag the men leave the building.

    Police said the burglary took place between 04:00 and 04:45 on Monday 9 May and have called for anybody who recognises the men to contact them.

    Through this evening and overnight, a band of cloud and some rain or drizzle will cross all parts, clearing shortly after midnight, leaving the rest of the night dry.

    There is the small chance of some mist forming, particularly around the Chilterns.

    London boxer David Haye hopes Saturday's fight with Arnold Gjergjaj at the O2 Arena will raise more than £50,000 for Nick Blackwell.

    Blackwell has said he will not fight again after sustaining serious head injuries in his middleweight fight against Chris Eubank Jr in March.

    Haye has pledged to donate 10% of the money from ticket sales for the bout.

  7. Hounslow Council builds 'largest solar array'published at 17:40 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    The London Borough of Hounslow, external claims to have created the largest array of solar panels ever put up by a local authority.

    The installation of 6,000 solar panels on the roof of Western International Market will generate half of the site's required electricity, the council says.

    The site is west London's largest wholesale market for fresh produce and flowers, and uses around 3.5 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity to provide climate controlled facilities to around 80 wholesalers and buyers.

    A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a man died following an explosion at a block of flats in Hackney.

    The man was one of four inside the building in Stamford Hill when the fire broke out yesterday afternoon.

    A 31-year-old man died after being taken to a specialist burns unit in Essex.

    A 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old men both remain in a critical condition in hospital.

    The man who has been arrested was being treated in a central London hospital but was discharged earlier.

    Scotland Yard said he was held "in connection with the incident" and remains in custody in an east London police station.

  9. Critics 'plus one' tickets policy ends at the National Theatrepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    The National Theatre is to introduce a policy banning critics from bringing so-called "plus ones" to performances.

    Traditionally, theatres and music venues issue two tickets to every attending critic, so they can bring a friend or colleague to shows.

    But the National Theatre, external website now states that, from August, critics will have to purchase any extra tickets.

    The company said the move would allow them to offer more seats to critics from online and broadcast media.

  11. Doctor critically injured in Las Vegas crash leaves hospitalpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    A junior doctor from Camden who was critically injured when he was hit by a truck in Las Vegas has been discharged from hospital.

    Writing on a fundraising page, external set up by friends, Dr Sebastian Kola-Bankole revealed he was able to "walk out of the hospital, slowly but unaided" three months and three days after the crash.

    He said he was "honoured to be part of a truly humbling story" and thanked "friends, colleagues, acquaintances and strangers... from the bottom of my heart".

    Nearly £200,000 was raised as part of the campaign after it was discovered Dr Kola-Bankole did not have travel insurance.

    Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says the 1990 FA Cup final, where the Eagles drew 3-3 with Manchester United before losing in the replay, transformed the club.

    Speaking at a media conference, the Palace chief said you "couldn't put a price" on what winning on Saturday would do.

    The London side take on Man Utd at Wembley at 17:30.

    A father accused of killing his six-year-old daughter in a violent rage said she probably died while he was asleep and claimed: "Children fall over."

    Ben Butler, 36, told the Old Bailey Ellie Butler was probably fatally injured while she was playing on the stairs with new puppy Minnie weeks before she died in October 2013.

    But prosecutor Ed Brown QC said there was no evidence that Ellie was a "clumsy" child at school.

    Mr Butler also said he would "die" for his daughter and denied being dishonest to the jury.

    The former car salesman, from Sutton, denies murder and child cruelty.

    Lyle Taylor's extra-time goal booked AFC Wimbledon a spot in the League Two play-off final after a thrilling semi-final second leg at Accrington Stanley.

    Having lost the first leg 1-0, Stanley levelled the tie through Josh Windass' penalty after Scott Brown was fouled.

    Piero Mingoia's screamer then put the hosts ahead, before Adebayo Akinfenwa's header took the game into extra time.

    And Taylor slotted in to make it 2-2 on the night and send the Dons through to the final against Plymouth on 30 May.

    The final Greenpeace protester has come down from the columns surrounding the British Museum and been led away by police.

    However the anti-BP banners are still attached to the columns.

  17. Murder investigation launched after woman dies in Hampsteadpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 19 May 2016

    A murder investigation has been launched , externalfollowing the death of a woman at an address in Maitland Park Villas, Hampstead.

    Police were called by the London Ambulance Service early this morning to reports of an injured woman in her 40s. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

    A Post Mortem examination is due to take place at St Pancras Mortuary tomorrow.

    A man in his 40s was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of murder. He is believed to be a resident at the same address.
