    The train causing severe disruption to services in and out of Paddington was derailed automatically because it passed a red signal outside the station.

    Images released of the train show it crashed into poles holding up overhead power lines which is adding to the problems.

    Network Rail said its "engineers are working around-the-clock to repair significant damage caused by this incident".

    More heavy showers will develop during the morning. 

    These may well produce some thunder later with the potential for localised downpours. 

    However, there will be some sunny spells between showers and a few places may miss the showers.

    Services into and out of Paddington will be severely disrupted all day because of the empty train which derailed outside the station yesterday. Find out about alterations here., external

    Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City which is causing cancellations and delays of up to 60 minutes to journeys between Stevenage and London Kings Cross and Moorgate via Hatfield.

    The Overground is part closed between South Tottenham and Barking for engineering works.

    Traffic is queueing traffic on A316 into town from Apex Corner in Hanworth towards the Hospital Bridge Roundabout, in Twickenham.

    The New Kent Rd is slow westbound at Bricklayers Arms into Elephant and Castle.

    In Acton, the A4000 Victoria Road is closed near Wales Farm Roadd for surface works after earlier flooding.

  4. Train derails at Paddington: Services disrupted in and out of stationpublished at 08:06 British Summer Time 17 June 2016

    Passengers travelling through London Paddington are facing continued disruption after a train derailment.

    Network Rail said the empty train had passed a red signal outside the station, activating an automatic derailment on Thursday. Overhead power lines also came down.

    Operator GWR expects to run only half its normal service this morning.

    Network Rail said a limited service would run, external to and from London Paddington until the end of today.
