    Tensions rose as protesters confronted police inside Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall. People were demanding that those who lost their homes be rehoused within the borough and they wanted more information about the victims.

    "A number of pupils" are missing from Kensington Aldridge Academy, the closest school to Grenfell Tower.

    The secondary school, which teaches to students between the ages of 11 and 18, will be closed for the foreseeable future as it has been affected by fire damage and needs to be made safe.

    Two other schools, Burlington Danes Academy and Latymer Upper School, are offering space for pupils to sit their GCSEs and A-levels.

  4. Ethiopian Embassy says whole family missingpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 16 June 2017

    The Ethiopian Embassy in London has said that there are eight British nationals of Ethiopian origin among the missing, including a whole family.

    They name them as mother and son Berikti and Biruk Habtom, as well as Hashim Kidir, his wife and their three children.

    They also name Isaac Paulos, five, also known as Isaac Shawo, who has now been confirmed as one of the victims.

    The embassy says the Ethiopian ambassador and diplomats visited the affected families on Friday morning to offer their support.

    UK-based company Omnis supplied the panels used for cladding in Grenfell Tower. They have told the BBC's Jim Reed that they were asked to supply one of the cheaper, more flammable versions available then. The company can supply more expensive, fire-retardant versions of the panels now - a type called Reynobond FR - but it is not clear if they were available at the time.

    Labour councillor Robert Atkinson says he understands why demonstrators at the town hall are angry and furious.

    He told the BBC it is important the council "gets a grip of the situation" and houses people and provides information as quickly as possible.

    "I don't understand why the council leaders are not addressing this demonstration," he added.

    "I do think the leadership of the council has the responsiblity to speak to and communicate with its residents."

    Protesters have given the council a list of demands.

    They are:

    • Written commitment from the council on immediate rehousing of all the victims of Grenfell Tower fire within the borough
    • Immediate release of funds to cover costs of welfare and all losses suffered by the victims
    • Commission an investigation into the recent £10m refurbishment project of the same tower
    • Release full list of victims of the tragedy
    • Commission investigation into all other similar buildings in the borough to identify fire, health and safety risks and put in place immediate control measures.
