  1. Fire crews tackle White Hart Lane blazepublished at 08:45 British Summer Time 19 September 2017

    Over 100 firefighters remain at the scene of a blaze at a warehouse in north London.

    Twenty fire engines were sent to the scene of the fire on White Hart Lane in Tottenham, London Fire Brigade said.

    One person was taken to hospital with burns to the hand.

    At it's peak over 140 fire officers were needed to tackle the blaze. The fire service said crews had worked "hard through the night to bring this blaze under control".

    A cordon has been set up around homes in Alwold Crescent in south-east London

    Residents have been allowed to return home following a suspected "chemical incident" in south-east London that left two people in hospital.

    Emergency services were called at 09:50 on Sunday over fears residents in Alwold Crescent, Lee were suffering reactions to an unknown chemical smell.

    Gas firm SGN said it completed routine safety checks in the area on Sunday and had found no abnormal gas readings.

    Greenwich Council said it was trying to establish the cause of the irritant.

    The leader of the Liberal Democrats has told BBC Radio Leicester the naughtiest thing he's ever done was shooting an air rifle out of his window while pretending to be a sniper.

    Vince Cable said: "An episode occurred in my childhood when I discovered an air riffle in my dad's wardrobe and I brought round a friend and we discovered how it worked. I started practicing being a war time sniper against my neighbour's windows.

    "Eventually it was reported and a policemen duly appeared on my doorstep and I was marched off to the police station and I got a bit of a dressing down, nothing more."
