Plans for the first cycle superhighway in west London have been unveiled.

More than half of the 5.6-mile (9km) Cycle Superhighway 9 - which will link Kensington Olympia to Brentford - will be on segregated lanes, protecting riders from other traffic.

Nearly 3.7 miles (6km) of segregated cycle lane will be added to several major west London raods, including Hammersmith Road, King Street, Chiswick High Road, Brentford High Street and Kew Bridge Road.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the project "will make a real difference in encouraging Londoners of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes and improve conditions for pedestrians across the area”.

The plans will now be subject to a five-week long public consultation.

Consumers are being advised to stop buying fridges and freezers with flammable plastic backs, which could create a fire risk.

According to research by Which? there are at least 236 such models on sale, representing nearly half the market.

It is also asking manufacturers to stop making such appliances.

However, the industry said consumers should not be alarmed. It insisted that all fridges and freezers sold in the UK adhere to legal safety requirements.

A Hotpoint fridge-freezer has been cited as the cause of the Grenfell Tower fire.

However, it is still being examined by forensic officers, and it is not known whether it had a flammable back.

In tests carried out by the London Fire Brigade, a fridge without a flame-retardant back burst into flames after 90 seconds, and had to be put out after two-and-a-half minutes.

Over the past few years there has been a change in the way acid has been used. No longer just associated with shame or honour attacks, acid is now a weapon used by moped thieves as well as a means of settling gang disputes.

We follow four separate acid attack victims who highlight this growing trend.

There was a strong Belgian accent to the scoreline, as Michy Batshuayi hit a hat-trick, playmaker Eden Hazard marked his first start of the season with two assists and Charly Musonda also grabbed a goal.

Tendayi Derikwa got a consolation goal for Forest, and manager Mark Warburton said "soft goals" cost his side.

The government is launching a review into whether a new law is needed to tackle dangerous cycling.

It will consider whether an equivalent offence to causing death by dangerous driving is needed for cyclists.

It comes after Charlie Alliston, who killed Kim Briggs while riding a fixed-gear bike with no front brakes, was convicted under Victorian law.

Mrs Briggs' widower Matthew Briggs welcomed the review, saying the case "highlighted a huge gap" in the law.
