A council’s trading standards team is warning about a phone scam targeting pensioners, after a South Croydon woman was duped out of £650 worth of iTunes vouchers.
A four-year-old girl is in hospital after being hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene, police have said.
London Ambulance Service called the Met Police to the scene on Thornton Road, in Croydon, at about midday today.
The girl has been taken to a west London hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Police are trying to trace the driver who failed to stop. No arrests have been made.
Tube workers have been praised for their response to last night's minor explosion at Southgate Underground station.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said the incident demonstrated how important it is to have "properly trained staff".
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash added: “Whilst this incident appears not to be terror-related, the possibility of an attack is always on our minds and safety is our absolute priority.
“It is absolutely right and correct that the Southgate London Underground staff are receiving praise today for their professionalism in the face of another serious incident on the tube network.”
However, RMT has expressed concerns over what it describes as London Underground's initial lack of speed and clarity in reporting what was happening.
The union said it hopes these concerns will be addressed in a review of the incident.
Two men are accused of raiding a house in Coventry where they took cash and jewellery.

Ash Dubbay, from London, says he had booked a return flight to Tel Aviv for £195 but now has to pay about £1,000.
BA has apologised and offered full refunds and a £100 voucher. The company refused to say how many were affected.
Mr Dubbay, from Golders Green, said he booked his tickets for Tel Aviv two-and-a-half weeks before he was due to travel.
He said he booked the flights through a travel agent, Travel Up, for a three-day trip for a family wedding and memorial service.
Travel Up have been contacted for comment.
Major disruptions affected several London stations, including in Twickenham where the Rolling Stones played.
