Community groups have until 10 October to apply for their share of a new £300,000 fund.

The grants programme is managed by the London Community Foundation on behalf of housing association Peabody.

It funded 26 projects last year, including a facilitator for Barnet Lone Parents Centre's volunteer programme and an initiative by Haringey-based youth group Zest of Mind to provide training and placements for 15 disadvantaged young people from Haringey in music production, event management and business.

In this round, grants of up to £10,000 are up for grabs.

Peabody says priority will be given to projects addressing the needs of the most disadvantaged members of the communities, Peabody resident-led projects and projects driven by people aged 24 or below.

London Councils will able to bid for new funding to target funding to help target local pollution hot spots, from today.

The £6m funding pot is the third and final round of bidding to the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund which has established projects across the capital.

Part of the funding will be used to establish four more Low Emission Neighbourhoods (LENs), cut emissions from construction machinery and create car-free and low-emission streets.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said: “Our filthy toxic air is a national health crisis, contributing to tens of thousands of premature deaths in the UK every year.

"Today’s funding will help boroughs to deliver targeted action to complement these strong measures and improve their local areas for the benefit of all Londoners."
