    Books of commemoration have opened at Wallasey and Birkenhead town halls to allow people to record their comments in the wake of the conclusion of the Hillsborough inquests.

    People have until 13 May to write their thoughts before the books are handed over to Liverpool City Council to hand over to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

    Louise Brookes, who lost her 26-year old brother Andrew at Hillsborough, says she wants prosecutions to follow on from the inquests.

Some of them were actually looking in the pens and literally turned away.     Match Commander Ch Supt David Duckenfield's actions on the day of the disaster were criticised in the conclusions.

    A lawyer representing one group of Hillsborough victim families has said they are still in the "middle of their struggle" for truth and justice.

    Pete Weatherby QC, who acts on behalf of 22 families, said: "This is a struggle by bereaved families, victims, for truth and justice and the end to impunity.

    "And right in the middle they have had a famous, iconic victory in the inquests."

    Barry Devonside, whose 18-year-old son Christopher died at Hillsborough, believes only a handful of police officers did a good job on the day of the tragedy.

    He was responding to message, posted on a website for South Yorkshire Police's retired officers, which said they had served dedicated and courageous careers.

    Mr Devonside said: "I saw police officers endeavouring to give mouth-to-mouth or CPR and those people were excellent. The sad thing is there were only a few, maybe on two hands you could count them. There were over 200 police officers walking around that pitch aimlessly. No direction, no leadership."

    Rick Naylor, Secretary of South Yorkshire Narpo (National Association of Retired Police Officers) said in the post, later removed, that officers should be proud on their work but Mr Devonside responded: "He's kidding himself."

    Pete Weatherby QC, who represents 22 of the Hillsborough families, believes the civil action being pursued is about justice rather than being financially motivated..

    He said: "One shouldn't read too much into this. There are a number of reasons to take civil claims.

    "Of the families that I represent, there is nothing further from their minds at the moment than the pursuit of money."

    It is a huge night for Liverpool this evening as they face Villareal in the semi-final first leg of the Europa League in Spain.  

    Before the game, a banner will be held up by Villarreal fans paying tribute to the 96 who died as a result of the Hillsborough disaster. It will have the motto You'll Never Walk Alone.

    Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg says South Yorkshire Police needs major restructuring.

    The ex-Lib Dem leader, who represents Sheffield Hallam, was responding to the suspension of the force's chief constable in the wake of the Hillsborough inquests conclusion.

    He said: "I mean there's something gone very, very, very wrong. I'm afraid this is a part and parcel of a wider pattern of a force that simply doesn't seem to have done its job on all sorts of fronts."

    Mr Clegg added: "So radical reform is necessary in the South Yorkshire force."

    Kier Starmer, the Labour MP for Holborn and St Pancras who was the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Head of the Crown Prosecution Service from 2008 to 2013, says "it's appalling that police officers can retire and then not be subject to disciplinary proceedings".

    Speaking after the Hillsborough inquests conclusions Mr Starmer said: "It has taken 27 years for the truth to come out and it cannot be right that anybody with culpability now escapes accountability.

    "We've had truth, we've had justice... there now needs to be accountability".

    A lawyer representing 22 of the Hillsborough families has said the legal fight is about "truth and justice, not money".

    Pete Weatherby QC, whose clients are not part of the legal action announced earlier against the South Yorkshire and West Midlands police forces, said civil courts are one course of action open to the families.
