Callum Philip Ormond and a youth were seen near West Walls in Carlisle by police hunting the gangs in August 2019, and although Ormond had no drugs in his possession, he did have a mobile phone on which he was being given directions on where to go to sell heroin and cocaine.
Ormond, of Hogarth Drive, Prenton, admitted possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, and Judge Andrew Jefferies QC was urged to suspend a prison sentence because of his age at the time of his crime, his complete lack of offending since and the fact he now had legitimate work.
But Judge Jefferies told Ormond: “The message has to go out to those who have been recruited that if they go on a jolly to Carlisle to sell drugs, they will not be treated leniently."
