Three people have been arrested in connection with the theft of five dogs who were stolen from kennels in South Kilworth, near Lutterworth, in February.

Four of the five basset hounds have been found but one - 18-month-old Bashful - is still missing, and the owners are very concerned for her welfare.

Lisa Dean, from Beauty's Legacy, an organisation that helps to reunite pets with their owners, said the four dogs have lost "drastic amounts of weight" and have been injured.

She said the owners were "relieved" they were safe but remained "very worried for the dog that is missing".

The two male and three female puppies - Landlord, Bashful, Lattice, Drama and Banish - who are microchipped, were taken between 17:00 on 17 February and 07:30 on 18 February.

Leicestershire Police said two women and a man were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods by officers from Greater Manchester Police.

They have all been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Sgt Paul Archer thanked the public for their help finding the dogs and asked "anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the outstanding dog to come forward".
