A Rolls Royce displayed at the Sandringham Museum for 10 years has sold at auction for more than £250,000.

The privately-owned vintage vehicle was bought by Prince Charles' great uncle Earl Mountbatten for £2,000 in the 1920s. 

The car changed hands several times and had been repainted so much that paint weighing 50lbs (23kg) had to be removed from the body during restoration work. The buyer's details are not being made public, auctioneer Bonhams said.

Next month will mark 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare.

BBC Look East reporter Shaun Peel has been to the Wren Library in Cambridge, which is home to a rare collection of Shakespeare's plays.

He met Dr Nicholas Bell, librarian at Trinity College, who spoke about the interest of Suffolk-born Edward Capell, who researched the works.                  

A cast iron collection box has been found in the dunes by Caister lifeboat station.

It's believed the box was made to collect funds for the widows of the Beauchamp lifeboat disaster, external, which capsized during a storm in November 1901, killing nine of the 12 men on board.

It took an hour to dig from the sand and had to be pulled out with a winch on the back of the inshore lifeboat tractor.

Drivers can no longer get down a busy cut-through in Norwich city centre, as Westlegate is blocked off as part of the Transport for Norwich scheme, external.

Steve Morphew, who chairs the Norwich Highways Agency Committee, said it's aware of the possible knock-on effects, but said most traffic will "go to the roads it's supposed to go on, and that's the ring road".

A petition has been opened on the Downing Street website which calls on the government to withdraw its proposals for devolution in East Anglia.

The petition, which currently has more than 100 signatures, calls the plan to give East Anglia a directly-elected mayor "fundamentally undemocratic... without full consultation with the people who will be effected by the proposals". 

The government says devolution will give local communities more of a say over planning and transport matters. It says devolution will be democratic, because the mayor will be elected by residents in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

It's believed a problem with a heater flue may have been the cause of a fire at Norwich International Airport over the weekend.

More than a dozen crews dealt with the blaze in a hangar used by Air Livery, external, a company which paints planes.

The firm's marketing director, Paul Woods, said affected employees are being given work at other facilities in Norwich or around the UK while an investigation is carried out.

A falcon and a drone have been stolen in a burglary in Wymondham.

The bird of prey, a silver coloured three-quarter gyr-saker (breed pictured), was taken from a garden in Park Close between 05:30 and 15:30 on 9 March. It was wearing a ring tag numbered 10259WWW.

A Phantom 2V3 drone was also taken from a shed at the property. 

Fire crews managed to avert "complete devastation" when a blaze broke out in a hangar roof space at Norwich International Airport just before 10:00 on Sunday.

Watch manager Rob Burling said one of the two aircraft was removed amid concerns about the fire spreading. The blaze continued for 12 hours and crews remained on site through the night "because of the nature and complexity of the incident", he added.  

Norwich Fire and Rescue Service said the cause was not thought to be suspicious. A spokesman for the airport said services were not affected. 

An elderly man on a mobility scooter had £100 cash stolen from him by a man posing as a security guard.

The incident happened in Don Pratt Court, Norwich, yesterday when the suspect demanded to look inside the victim's bag.

The suspect is described as white, with a tanned complexion, aged between 25-30, and about 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall. 

Work to repair the seafront at Great Yarmouth was scheduled to be carried out in October, but the weather and other factors prevented it from happening.

County councillor Mick Castle said the authority always tries to avoid roadworks in the holiday period, but "if the work isn't done before the first week of April, the budget for it will be gone".

A number of businesses have told BBC Radio Norfolk they are concerned the roadworks will affect trade during the Easter break.

Sentencing Henry Day, Judge Anthony Bate said the defendant had "accepted his own sexuality" during the past seven years in prison.

The three-year sentence given to the child sex offender will run alongside his previous term handed to him in 2009, but because he was close to release it means he will serve longer behind bars.

Judge Bate said: "The defendant has gained a measure of insight into his offending and has accepted his own sexuality and that he was guilty of the 2009 offences."  

Henry Day had been a "model prisoner" since he was jailed in 2009 for systematically abusing boys over a 20-year period, said his lawyer Andrew Thompson.  

Day, 76, was given a new three-year sentence at Norwich Crown Court today after further victims of abuse came forward.

Mr Thompson said his client was in poor health and currently undergoing diagnosis for a brain injury. Mr Thompson added that "a lot of good things were done by his organisation... it was well regarded and one should not ignore the good it did over many years".

Many of Henry Day's victims were vulnerable, in care or from disadvantaged backgrounds, today's sentencing hearing heard.

The jailed sex child offender was handed a further three years in prison at Norwich Crown Court after admitting seven new counts of sexual assault relating to four boys, dating back to the 1970s.

Day (pictured in 2009), also known as Harry, founded the Young Citizens Guild, intended to help young people grow in confidence. He was made an MBE in 2004 for his work with children in Norfolk and east London.

Henry Day, who was close to release from HMS Bure for sexual abuse offences against boys, appeared frail in the dock at Norwich Crown Court today where he was given a new sentence after further victims came forward.

Det Mark Stratford, of Norfolk Constabulary's child abuse investigation unit, external, said it was clear that Day, originally from North Walsham, "preyed on young boys, the youngest of which was just nine years old at the time, for his own sexual gratification."
