At Norwich Crown Court today, Henry Day, 76, was told by Judge Anthony Bate that "until 2009, you were without conviction, but in fact it was revealed you had been offending against young boys since the 1970s."

Day, of North Walsham, received an MBE for his work with children in 2004. In 2009 he was convicted of 20 sexual offences, including gross indecency and incitement, against eight boys. He has since admitted seven more offences against four children.

  2. Disgraced youth leader to serve longer prison termpublished at 11:42 GMT 21 March 2016

A disgraced youth worker jailed for 13 years in 2009 after being found guilty of sexual abuse against eight boys in his care has been given an additional three-year sentence after further victims came forward.

    Henry Day

After the original sentencing, Norfolk Police said they believed Henry Day (pictured), 76, may have abused generations of young people who had not yet come forward. Day returned to Norwich Crown Court today after pleading guilty to seven new counts of sexual assault relating to four boys, dating back to the 1970s.

Judge Anthony Bate said the new sentence will run alongside Day's previous term, but because he'd been close to release from HMP Bure, near Coltishall, it means he serves longer in jail.

  3. Extended jail term for sex assault youth leaderpublished at 11:34 GMT 21 March 2016

A former youth leader honoured with an MBE for his work with children has been sentenced to a further three years in prison after admitting a string of sexual offences against boys dating back decades.

Henry Day, 76, from North Walsham, was already serving a 13-year jail term for similar offences against boys. Day was originally convicted in 2009 of 20 sexual offences, including gross indecency and incitement against eight children.

At Norwich Crown Court this morning, Judge Anthony Bate sentenced Day to a further three years, to run concurrently, in prison following his guilty plea to an additional seven offences of indecent assault against four victims, all under the age of 16.

Michael Cole, manager of the Joyland Children's Adventure Park, says he fears the work will cause traffic problems because of the diversions, and "visitors will get impatient and turn around and leave".

Norfolk County Council says the works are going ahead over the Easter holidays but not during the four-day bank holiday Easter weekend.

They were called to deal with the fire in the roof of an aircraft hangar yesterday morning.

About 60 firefighters and 16 fire engines were involved in the operation, working to make sure the blaze didn't spread to two aircraft inside - one of which was loaded with aviation fuel.
