Mr Brice says the public needs to understand why they're having to do it: "Its for the good of our birds, and also for the wild bird population, to keep the virus away from as many birds as we can.

"We're housing the birds for the benefit of both indoor and wild bird species so we need the public to support us while we're going through this restriction."

Canaries manager Alex Neil admits he still hasn't won over all of the Norwich fans.

Norwich look to be back in form having won their last three league games. However, Neil was heavily criticised by many supporters earlier in the season after City went on a run of one win in nine in all competitions.

"When there's been a period of unrest or when we haven't performed as well as we should have, naturally the fans are going to be a bit skeptical of whether it [Norwich's form] has turned around," Alex Neil said.

"The only way to change that is to continue your good run, continue winning games and continue being successful."

Norwich City go to Wigan Athletic tonight in The Championship. Three points will see them back in the play-off places.

  8. Online medical company's defends 'prescription mail-shot'published at 08:35

An internet-based medical company says it's surprised people in Watton are confused at correspondence they have received from them.

Pharmacy 2U, based in Leeds, had written to patients to inform them of the NHS repeat prescription service their company can offer.

In a statement, it says the NHS electronic prescription service allows patients a greater choice on how and where to pick up their medications, adding their service gives the convenience of ordering online with the medication delivered free to any UK address.

It explains they made every effort to make it clear the corespondence was from Pharmacy2U, had not been approved by the patient's doctor and the marketing literature had been approved by the NHS.

It's a new choice for those who don't find a traditional high street pharmacy a convenient choice... is often popular with people who work long hours, the elderly and housebound, and busy commuters who want to save time."

  9. Medical company's mail-drop 'causing confusion'published at 08:23 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2017

A letter being sent to residents in Watton asking them to sign up to a new prescription service is misleading, according to a local pharmacist.

It's being sent by the the internet-based Pharmacy2U, based in Leeds.

Geoff Ray, who owns Total Health Pharmacy in the town says it's confusing. He's concerned that people don't realise signing up would mean they couldn't pick up prescriptions from the local pharmacy.

One patient who'd signed the form willingly, because she needed her medication, came to the pharmacy to pick up her medicine but the prescription had gone to Leeds... it caused a lot of confusion between ourselves and the surgery as to where the prescription had gone."

A fire at a timber yard in west Norfolk which broke out more than two weeks ago is expected to burn for a further four or five days.

The pile of waste wood has reduced by 70% since ignition, but residents living near the North Runcton site are being warned it could smoulder for up to two weeks.

Daily visits to the site are being carried out by Norfolk Fire Service, the Environment Agency and West Norfolk Borough Council, to monitor air quality. So far no pollution to surface or ground water has been found.

  16. Volunteers needing for study into how e-cigarettes help smokers quitpublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

Do you, or have you, used e-cigarettes? If so, researchers at the University of East Anglia (UEA) need your help.

A study, at the UEA's Medical School, external, is looking for members of the public who've quit smoking with the help of the e-cigs, and have either stopped for good, or gone back to the old habit.

Amongst all quitters, 90% of attempts to stop smoking end in relapse. Although the use of e-cigs has boomed in recent years, a survey shows up to 63% of those who used them went back to smoking.

Dr Caitlin Notley, of the UEA's Medical School, says tobacco smoking is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide, with up to two thirds of long-term smokers dying of a smoking-related disease.

Recent evidence suggests that e-cigarettes could be more effective than nicotine replacement therapy in helping people stop smoking, adds Dr Notley, but little is known about people who quit smoking using them - and their eventual relapse status.

    Quote Message

Our ultimate aim is to develop guidance for health professionals so they can advise people how best to use e-cigarettes in the long term, if that is their choice, to stay stopped from smoking.
