    A Porsche Cayman GT4 is to be used to break down barriers with young drivers and help Norfolk Police, external to deliver life-saving road safety advice. 

    The vehicle has been donated by the Lind Trust, a charity which supports the development of young people in Norfolk.

    Complete with police livery and interior blue lights, the car will be used to engage with motorists and will have its own #Porsche999 hashtag on Twitter.

    Young drivers are disproportionately represented in fatal and serious collision statistics.

    In Norfolk over the past five years, 61 young drivers have lost their lives while 504 suffered serious injury.

  3. Puppy drowning 'could have been much worse', owner sayspublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    A man whose family dog was drowned by intruders who trashed the home he shared with his partner and step-daughter in Great Yarmouth said it could have been much worse. 

    A seven-month-old cockapoo Benji was found dead in a bath of water at Cobholm Close on Thursday and police are looking for the people who killed the animal and burgled the house.

    Mark Phillips said: "The fact that someone could do this to a puppy is bad enough, but it could have been much worse. 

    "What if a woman or children had been in the house? Me and my brother-in-law Gareth could have defended ourselves, but with a woman and children it could have been much worse. 

    "The police have to catch the people who did this to a puppy and make sure it does not happen to another animal or person."

  4. School opens doors to support 'shocked' communitypublished at 09:43 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    A school will open its doors this morning to offer support to those affected by the deaths of three teenagers in a road crash.

    Dominic O'Neill, 18, and Kyle Warren, 17, both from Harleston, and Billy Hines, 16, from Wortham, were killed on Wednesday night.

    The black Ford KA they were in crashed into trees and burst into flames on Tivetshall Road, towards Pulham Market.  

    It's the school holidays, but Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston is opening up from 10:00 to 12:00. 

    It said: "Our whole school community is shocked and saddened by this tragic news. Our thoughts and prayers extend to everyone who is affected."

  5. Crash victims were from Harleston and Worthampublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Returning to the story of the car crash which killed three teenagers near Pulham Market...

    Two of them, Dominic O'Neil, 18, and Kyle Warren, 17, were from Harleston, while 16-year-old Billy Hines was from Wortham in Suffolk.

    Police were called to Tivetshall Road, towards Pulham Market,  just after 23:45 on Wednesday

    The car had burst into flames and all three teenagers were killed at the scene.

    A book of condolences is available to sign at St John's Church in Harleston.

    The Reverend Nigel Tuffnell said: "It is just one of those things you don't expect ever to happen and you hope and pray that it doesn't happen.

    "Unfortunately it has happened and it's happened to three families."

    North Norfolk's Kimberley Morrison, external has qualified for the World Ironman Championship after celebrating the second win of her career. 

    Morrison completed the Ironman 70.3 event in Texas last weekend as the fastest female. 

    The series includes a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and then a half marathon.

    Two men will be "haunted" by the images of a family puppy found drowned in a bath of water after a break-in at a family home in Great Yarmouth, the pair have said.

    Mark Phillips had left cockapoo Benji at his partner Susan Walker's house in Cobholm Close for a short while and when he returned the property was trashed. 

    His brother-in-law Gareth made the grisly discovery and said: "I will never get this out of my head. Whoever could have done this is sick and twisted.

    "Now, me and Mark have got to live with this image in our heads.

    "It weren't just a dog - it was a member of our family."

    More than £200,000 has been paid out by Norfolk County Council in compensation to pupils injured at school over the past three years, a BBC investigation has discovered.

    A playground accident cost the council £21,500 and, in another case, a child was awarded £3,500 over a fall from a table. 

    The county council said, while it works closely with schools to avoid accidents they do happen and it has successfully defended many compensation claims.

    Flowers have been laid close to the scene of a fatal crash, which claimed the lives of three young men near Pulham Market.

    The three teens died at the scene after the Ford KA they were travelling in left the Tivetshall Road and crashed into a tree shortly before midnight.

    The vehicle had been travelling towards Pulham Market. It's believed the trio came from Harleston.

    Roadblocks remain in place as forensic officers in white suits investigate the cause of the collision.

  18. Bernard Matthews 'restructure of head office'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    We've received the following statement from Boparan Private Office, confirming that 114 redundancies are to be made at the Bernard Matthews' site in Great Witchingham.

    "We have completed the process and explored all options available to us to mitigate job losses. 

    "After discussion with colleagues and union representatives the decision was taken to cease production of chicken and to restructure head office. 

    "These changes will enable the business to focus on what we're best at and allow us to make things happen with agility and pace."

  19. Job losses at Bernard Matthewspublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    The Unite union says workers at poultry producer Bernard Matthews feel "betrayed and let down" at the loss of jobs.

    The union claims 128 jobs will be going, 69 of them in chicken production at the south side of the company's headquarters at Great Witchingham near Norwich. The turkey production site, on the north site, is unaffected.

    The union says workers were led to believe that when the  company was purchased  by the Boparan Private office in September more business for chicken production would be generated.

    Regional officer Steve Harley says the union has worked closely with management to minimise the number of redundancies, and some were avoided due to deployment to other areas of the business.
