Poor weather has put a hold on plans for two Norfolk adventurers to cross the English Channel on inflatable paddleboards in aid of the RNLI.
Charlie Graham-Wood (pictured left) and Lewis Gray, who live in north Norfolk, were due to make the crossing last week.
"It didn't happen because the weather was the worse it's been all year," said Mr Graham-Wood.
"There wasn't a single day where it was even close to being border line... they even cancelled ferries for the first time this year - we couldn't have picked a worse week if we'd have tried."
The duo have been training for the crossing for the last six months off the Norfolk coast at Sheringham and along The Broads.
"It's frustrating, but we're trying to make the best of it. The training has just got 10 times harder as we just don't know when we're going - my living room is like paddle HQ at the moment as if we get a window, we just need to go," he said.
"We're ready to go a drop of hat - but who knows when? If there's a week day between now and the end of October we'll go."
The cross-channel paddle season ends in October, but the friends are trying to stay upbeat about the challenge.
"It's hard," Mr Graham-Wood said, "but on the positive side it gives us more time to raise more cash for RNLI Sheringham, external."
Midfielder Mario Vrancic scores twice as Norwich beat Championship rivals Brentford to reach the Carabao Cup fourth round.

A Diss pensioner's life has been saved - by his local bookie.
Michael Base, 72, has had a routine of putting two £1 bets on at the BetFred shop in the town every day.
Staff noticed he hadn't been in for four days and went looking for him.
They found out where he lived and when they didn't get an answer called the police who broke in to find him on the floor.
Mr Base, who's diabetic, spent a month in Intensive Care at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
He's now staying at a nearby residential home.
The front window of a train on the Ipswich to Norwich line was cracked earlier - by a brick or a large stone being thrown at it.
It happened as the London service left Diss. It was able to get to Ipswich where passengers were put on an alternative service.
Greater Anglia says the driver has been left shaken.

For true Liberal Democrat aficionados no visit to party conference is complete without a trip to the Lib Dem shop.
Here you can buy everything from rosettes to flags, cuddly toys to stationary... and mementoes of your favourite MP.
Fans of North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb are spoilt for choice. There are Norman Lamb key rings (85p), Norman Lamb bottle openers (£3.50) Norman Lamb letter openers (£2.50) and Norman Lamb fridge magnets (£1)
And for those on a budget you can always get a Norman Lamb badge for 55p. There's a choice of two pictures: Norman in 2005 and Norman in 2015.
"Norman Lamb is always one of our best sellers," says shop owner Craig Card.
"We brought 10 of his mugs with us along to conference this year and they all sold out on the first day."
Perhaps that explains why he got such a good reception when he addressed conference earlier today.

Train operator Greater Anglia has responded to the earlier announcement of the two days on which members of the RMT union working for the company are planning to go on strike.
Train service delivery director Richard Dean said: "We are obviously disappointed with the announcement today.
"We’re keen to talk to the RMT to try and resolve the issues involved and to avert industrial action.
"In the event of industrial action going ahead on Tuesday 3 October and Thursday 5 October, we’d like to reassure customers that we have contingency plans in place and intend to run a full service.
"We value our conductors highly and we have guaranteed their jobs until the end of the franchise in October 2025.
"In fact, we will be recruiting additional conductors, as we are replacing all of our trains with brand new trains from 2019, which will enable us to run more services."

A man who has had six years of treatment in this country for a brain tumour, is using crowdfunding to raise money so he can go to a specialist clinic in Germany.
Mark Redhead, 42, from Grimston near King's Lynn has been told by doctors here that nothing more can be done to control it.
His wife Justyna, who set up the crowdfunding scheme, said: "We're just hoping it will work.
"They estimated it would cost 35,500 Euros (about £31,500) and we didn't have that kind of money."
