The detective behind the operation which saw two men jailed for having a loaded sawn-off shotgun said he was "pleased" the gun was off the streets.
Det Ch Insp Elliot Foskett said his teams had made "significant in-roads into tackling this type of criminality" after Sam Cooksley (left), 22 and Daniel Stray (right), 18, were each sentenced to five years at Northampton Crown Court.

A takeaway delivery driver has been robbed of his motorbike in Northampton.
It happened at the junction of Craven Street and Military Road, in the town centre, on Thursday night.
The driver was attacked by two men - and one of them rode off on the bike, which was then involved in a collision in the Kingsley area of the town.

Aside from the takeover deal with Kelvin Thomas, Northampton Borough Council said it has made a formal complaint about "potential financial mismanagement of funds" lent to to Northampton Town Football Club.
Northampton Borough Council provided the Cobblers with a £10.25m loan more than two years ago, which is currently outstanding.
Northampton Town also face a winding up petition from HMRC for an unpaid £166,000 tax bill.

Northampton Borough Council has said it "worked hard with Kelvin Thomas over several weeks to try to reach agreement over the [£10.25m] debt owed to us by the football club".
It goes on to say it developed a "memorandum of understanding" with Kelvin Thomas which is subject to agreement by its cabinet at a special meeting tomorrow and then "to a legal agreement being drawn up".
Northampton Town have said current chairman David Cardoza has reached an agreement to sell the controlling stake in the the Cobblers to former Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas (pictured below).
The club say the deal is subject to the legal paperwork being completed which is expected to happen "well in advance of Friday's administration hearing".

Northamptonshire Police's Deputy Chief Constable Andy Frost has been told he has "no case to answer" following the completion of an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
The IPCC looked at allegations about Mr Frost's alleged involvement in a professional standards department investigation and whether it was appropriate.
The force's Chief Constable, Simon Edens, considered the findings of the investigation and concluded Mr Frost had no case to answer for misconduct.

Two Northamptonshire men have been jailed for five years each after being found with a loaded sawn-off shotgun.
Sam Cooksley, 22, of Brooke Green in Wellingborough and Daniel Stray,18, of Lovell Court, Irthlingborough, were sentenced at Northampton Crown Court earlier on.
They said the gun was to be used in defence, claiming they had been targeted by gangs in the past. But the judge said by arming themselves they were “bringing the battle to the streets” which he said was “bad for society as a whole”.
