    China's Bright Food has had a controlling stake in Weetabix since 2012.

  2. 'Stop Rail Central' group formed to fight Blisworth interchange planspublished at 13:05

    An action group - named 'Stop Rail Central' - has been formed, external by residents and businesses against the proposed development of Rail Central, a rail freight interchange between the villages of Blisworth and Milton Malsor.

    The group has also been registered as a limited company, with its sole purpose being to demonstrate the site is "totally inappropriate" for a rail fright interchange, external.

  3. Homeless Romanian Ryan: 'Nobody wanted to help me'published at 12:45

    A homeless man from Romania said "nobody wanted to help him" until he was given emergency shelter by a Northamptonshire charity.

    Ryan was helped by Northampton Association of the Single Homeless, external, which says around half of the people they've provided shelter for are European migrants.

    Northampton Saints wing George North says he is looking forward to returning to Scarlets for the first time in the European Champions Cup on Saturday.

    The 23-year-old Wales international played for Scarlets for three years before joining Saints in 2013.

  6. New drive to up UK food exports launched in Northamptonshirepublished at 11:50

    Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss launched a new export scheme called the 'Great British Food Unit' at Weetabix in Burton Latimer today.

    The aim of the unit is to match France and Germany, which both currently export more than double the UK in terms of the value of food and drink.

    Weetabix also announced its own new commitment to source all wheat for its traditional product from within 50 miles of the Northamptonshire factory.

    I've been to see Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder who told me contract talks have started with winger Lawson D'Ath, forward Sam Hoskins and defender Rod McDonald, whose deals expire in June.

    He also failed to rule out any more signings saying there was "nothing in the pipeline" but said Southend's Luke Prosser (pictured) could be a possibility given the club previous interest and his desire to leave.

    He said no-one would be leaving the Cobblers unless they get a "ridiculous" offer.

    Some of the homeless people given shelter by Northampton Association of the Single Homeless "are working and then living on the streets," according to Richard Hughes from the charity.

    An emergency protocol for rough-sleepers was introduced last Thursday after temperatures dropped below zero for three days in a row.

    The borough council is proposing to freeze its part of the council tax, but plans to make £1.5m worth of cuts to balance the books.

    Five victims of human trafficking have been identified and helped by police in Northamptonshire over the past six months.

    A team of four officers in the county work to counter human trafficking. Today the force is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the issue.

    A former Concorde pilot has described how the supersonic jet would take-off like "a scalded angel".

    Forty years ago, the famous plane carried its first passengers.

    Andy Barnwell, a Concorde pilot in the 1990s who now lives in Welford, Northamptonshire, said flying the British icon meant he always went "to work with a smile on my face".

    An emergency protocol for rough-sleepers was introduced last Thursday, meaning councils have to provide a warm place for rough-sleepers to spend the night when the temperature falls below zero degrees for three consecutive nights.

    Theresa Kelly, from the Northampton Association for the Accommodation of the Single Homeless, says of the people they've helped at Oasis House around half are European migrants.

    She added that although many are working, because of changes to benefits, especially housing benefit, they aren't able to find accommodation.
