The event is every year held to remember the millions of people murdered in World War Two and subsequent genocides.

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust chief executive, Olivia Marks-Woldman, said: "We know silence and indifference in the face of discrimination and hatred allows persecution to take root, so we want to encourage people to stand up and speak out."

Billing Brook Road in Billing is shut between the A43 Lumbertubs Way junction and the North Holme Court junction because of a police incident.

The road has been closed since early yesterday evening.
