    A resident of Agnes Road has told the BBC that Jimmy's Store on the corner of Arnold Road and Kingsthorpe Road has been cordoned off because a man connected to the victim visited it yesterday afternoon.

    Police were called to a house on Agnes Road in Northampton yesterday at 19.30 after a woman was seriously injured.

    The women subsequently died and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

    An MEP has blamed "mass immigration, which has allowed a small number of jihadis to enter Europe" for this morning's attack in Brussels.

    Roger Helmer, who represents the East Midlands, said: "Brussels appears to be the centre of terrorist activity in Europe."

    The UKIP member said he is in his office in the European Parliament building in Brussels, but one his staff passed close to one of the bombs at a Metro station and is "not injured, but is a bit shaken".

    Northamptonshire has just six schools with lollipop men and women, following the withdrawal of county council funding for the service back in 2010.

    The patrols now have to be paid for directly by the schools, or by community groups or parents prepared to fund-raise.

    In a recent national study, 95% of parents said they felt safer knowing their children are being shown across the road.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at an address in Agnes Road, Northampton last night.

    Police were called by paramedics at 19.30 yesterday to reports of a woman having been seriously injured. She died a short time later.

    A 41-year-old man from Northampton, who was known to the woman, was arrested on suspicion of murder last night and is currently being held at the Criminal Justice Centre. A forensic post mortem examination is set to take place at Leicester Royal Infirmary later today.

    Police say they are still investigating a "serious incident" and the property remains cordoned off, as is Jimmy's Store on the corner of Agnes Road and Barrack Road.

    Conservative Member for the East Midlands, Emma McClarkin MEP, has told the BBC she is "shocked and stunned" by this morning's attacks in Brussels.

    Mr McClarkin said she "completely condemned these cowardly acts of terrorism," adding that her thoughts "are with those who have been caught up in these attacks, and with the families of those who have been killed".

    She added: "The security forces must redouble their efforts to prevent attacks and keep innocent people safe from those who want to remove our freedom and destroy our way of life."
