    A motion goes before a full meeting of Corby Borough Council this evening, calling for support for Corby's steelworkers.

    It's proposed by conservative group leader Rob McKellar. The motion also asks the council to actively promote the preservation of jobs.

    Corby's steel plant is up for sale as part of Tata Steel looking to offload it's UK business.

    The Education Secretary Nicky Morgan says a service for victims of crime in Northamptonshire should be introduced in other areas of the country.

    Voice Northants, external was set up by the Police and Crime Commissioner in 2014 to help victims and witnesses of crime, anti-social behaviour and road accidents.

    Ms Morgan visited the Voice Northants offices in Riverside Way this morning and says other PCCs could "copy and adapt" the service to implement it their counties.

    Tom Pursglove, the MP for Corby, has said that it's "very positive news and a welcome step forward" the government has said they willing to buy a 25% stake in Tata Steel UK business, including the plant in Corby.

    The government has announced that it is willing to take a 25% stake in any rescue of Tata Steel's UK operations, including the plant in Corby.

    The business department said it was preparing a support package "worth hundreds of millions of pounds" available to potential buyers.

    Business Secretary Sajid Javid said the money would be offered on commercial terms, but the government would not take any control over the business.

    At least two potential buyers have shown interest in buying the business.

    The plans for a rail freight terminal, external between Blisworth and Milton Malsor will be put on display to the public next week as part of a public consultation on the development.

    Along with the plans, there will also be members of Ashfield Land, promoter of Rail Central, and the technical project team at the venues in Blisworth, Roade, Collingtree, Towcester, and Milton Malsor.

    The plan has been strongly opposed by nearby residents and local politicians, but the developers say it'll create 8,000 jobs.
