The candidate with the fewest votes will be eliminated, and unless two or more pull out then another secret ballot will be held on Thursday, and then again on Tuesday, until the list is whittled down to two candidates, who will then go forward to a vote of the entire Conservative membership.

The BBC Brexit and Tory Leadership Live page will have the latest.

Footage has emerged of an Action Man astronaut doll missing after it was launched into near space, showing its dramatic fall to Earth.

"Major Tom" took flight on 26 June, to celebrate 50 years of Action Man.

He travelled 19 miles (30km) before descending. A tracker device was found in a field in Creaton in Northamptonshire, but the doll and capsule were missing.

The on-board camera has now been found and shows the "capsule" falling apart and ejecting the doll, which remains lost.

The county council say they know of 10 schools that were completely shut and 12 which were partially shut.

Education Secretary Nicky Morgan said the strike was "unnecessary" and "harmful" but Stuart Coe from the NUT in Northamptonshire explained to me why they were striking today:

  7. Kettering MP backs Andrea Leadsom for prime ministerpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Annabel Amos
    BBC Radio Northampton

The MP for Kettering, Philip Hollobone, has voted in the Conservative Party leadership contest, and told me that he's put his mark by the MP for South Northamptonshire Andrea Leadsom.

    Philip Hollobone

Mr Hollobone had said on Friday he would decide over the weekend, and unlike many other MPs, he didn't take to Twitter to reveal his choice as he told us last week he "doesn't know how to tweet", but rather he called the office and told us.

As yet the only MP we haven't heard from is Wellingborough's Peter Bone.

  8. Leadsom 'not one of the tiny band of lunatics' says Ken Clarkepublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Sky News

If politicians have learned one thing by now, you'd think they'd have realised there's always a microphone somewhere nearby.

Nevertheless, it seems senior Conservatives Ken Clarke and Sir Malcolm Rifkind have been caught having a candid chat in the Sky News studio about their party's leadership race.

Mr Clarke - who has a reputation for saying what he thinks - gave his tuppence-worth on South Northamptonshire MP Andrea Leadsom, saying:

    Quote Message

She is not one of the tiny band of lunatics who think we can have a sort of glorious economic future outside the single market. So long as she understands that she's not to deliver on some of the extremely stupid things she's been saying."

  12. Police base could be built at Wootton Hall Park or Swan Valley, says PCCpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Sam Read
    BBC Radio Northampton politics reporter

The county's new police and crime commissioner, Steven Mold, says there is still scope for the county's police force to have a base at their Wootton Hall Park headquarters in Northampton.

    Police HQ

The site is due to become a school from September and its sale was agreed by the previous commissioner - Adam Simmonds.

Mr Mold told me the police still own part of the Wootton Hall site and a new building could be built there or another option would be to use Swan Valley near junction 15a of the M1.

  13. If the police have no headquarters, what is the current plan?published at 15:12 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Sam Read
    BBC Radio Northampton politics reporter

The process of moving Northamptonshire Police out of its headquarters could cost £6.9m.

The money is being set aside by the police and crime commissioner to improve other police buildings which will house the staff who are based at the current Wootton Hall HQ in Northampton.

Work has also started on a new accommodation and investigation centre situated just off the A43 next to the A6003 between Kettering and Corby.

It should be completed by spring 2017, and will house approximately 350 staff.

  14. New PCC says he wouldn't have sold Wootton Hall sitepublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Sam Read
    BBC Radio Northampton politics reporter

The county's new police and crime commissioner says he has taken legal advice to see if he could halt the sale of the Police Headquarters at Wootton Hall in Northampton, but stopping the deal has proved impossible.

    Stephen Mold

The site was sold by Adam Simmonds, the first PCC, and a new school will be built on it.

Stephen Mold, who was elected in May, told me he "would have done it differently" and would have "most probably" built a brand new headquarters on the Wootton Hall site.

But he explained the site was sold on the afternoon before he took office on Thursday, 12 May.

  17. Lewis Hamilton v Nico Rosberg: Mercedes orders would 'rob' racing fanspublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    Andrew Benson
    Chief F1 writer

Lewis Hamilton says he will "pray and hope" Mercedes do not introduce team orders in his Formula 1 title battle with Nico Rosberg because it "robs" fans and "takes the joy" out of racing.

The team-mates collided while racing for the lead on the last lap of the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, which Hamilton went on to win. He now trails Rosberg, who was fourth, by 11 points.

Triple world champion Hamilton said: "I've been in that position before. It goes against all racing values."

The two drivers will resume their contest at this weekend's British Grand Prix, where a crowd of 140,000 is expected on race day at Silverstone.

Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff has indicated he could impose restrictions to prevent them from racing freely, reducing the likelihood of another crash.

Turns out Northamptonshire opener Ben Duckett was right as day two of the County Championship game between Derbyshire and Northamptonshire at Chesterfield was abandoned two hours before the scheduled start time.

Umpires Neil Mallender and Ian Blackwell inspected the Queen's Park ground at 09:00, but deemed the outfield too wet after overnight rain.

The opening day of the Division Two match was also called off on Monday, along with Sunday's T20 Blast game.
