The prosecution in the case of a man from Northampton accused of the rape and murder of India Chipchase will continue outlining its case today.
Image source, Northamptonshire PoliceThe body of the 20-year-old was found at a house in the town after she disappeared during a night-out in January. Edward Tenniswood, 52, of Stanley Road in St James has denied the charges.
Yesterday, Birmingham Crown Court heard Mr Tenniswood "raped and throttled" her at his home in the early hours of 30 January after he was heard telling the young barmaid outside NB's cocktail bar "I'll get you home safe".
The jury was told that after she died, Mr Tenniswood set about tidying up - "re-clothed her, covered her in a sheet and left her".
He checked into a hotel at about 21:30 GMT and Miss Chipchase's body was discovered inside his home at about 15:30 the next day. He was arrested three hours later.
