    Government statistics recording the latest daily coranavirus deaths, external show there was an increase of six deaths in the region's hospitals, taking the total number to 3,775.

    The deaths, listed by NHS trust, are:

    • Norfolk Community Health and Care: 1
    • North West Anglia (Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke hospitals): 2
    • Northampton General Hospital: 2
    • Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge: 1

    Friday's statistics showed a rise of 19 deaths, with a rise of 29 in Thursday's figures.

    The total number of Covid-19 associated UK deaths now stands at 40,542.

    More than half the 455 jobs at Fairline Yachts, external in Northamptonshire are under threat.

    The luxury boat builder has blamed plans for the redundancies on a fall in demand following the outbreak of Covid-19.

    The firm has announced 240 jobs are at risk at its factory in Oundle.

    Peter McNulty, chief operating officer, said: "Whilst we have continued to sell boats throughout this challenging time, this is unfortunately not in the volume we'd expect under normal circumstances.

    "Regrettably, 240 employees from across the company will be affected.

    "The first consultation meeting will be held with employee representatives next week."

    Another coronavirus testing centre has opened for people who believe they may have symptoms of the disease.

    The centre is a mobile unit visiting Kettering in Northamptonshire today and over the weekend as part of the government’s testing programme.

    Virus test

    Tests are by appointment and can only be applied for and booked online, external after which the location of the centre will be disclosed.

    A testing unit will also be available in Northampton from Sunday to Tuesday.

    An MP says she has written to Boris Johnson asking whether Dominic Cummings had undermined public adherence to the lockdown rules through his trip to Durham.

    Andrea Leadsom, Conservative MP for South Northamptonshire, said she had received about 1,100 emails from constituents who did not agree with his actions, and about 100 from people telling her they supported him.

    "I think it is really important that government ministers and advisers do set a good example", she said.
