    Leicestershire 519 v Northamptonshire 211-5

    Alex Winter
    BBC Radio Northampton sport

"It's a perfect summer's day at Wantage Road and there's good atmosphere in the ground with Northants legends here for former players' day. Plenty of autograph hunters are around with most of the 1976 Gillette Cup-winning side around - the first silverware won by Northants as a first-class county.

"The 2016 crop are trying to show the old boys their character as they try to battle back into the game. Adam Rossington fell for a skittish 26, but Rob Newton remains obdurate and has Saif Zaib, surviving some leg theory, for company."

Moving to Corby can bring life-changing benefits, according to Judy Caine, who moved to the town 10 years ago and became borough mayor in 2013.

Corby is the fastest expanding town in England and is predicted to grow to a population of 76,000 by 2024.

Ms Caine said: "I will have nothing said against the town. It's phenomenal and the commitment of the people to make it work after the steelworks closed in the 1980s makes it a wonderful place to be."

  17. Transformation of Corby attracting new growth and more peoplepublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    Willy Gilder
    BBC Radio Northampton

Ten years ago or so I was in Corby town centre on a damp November evening and I remember thinking how depressing it was.

But if you look around the same place now it is transformed with new shops, the striking Cube building complete with theatre and library, an international sized swimming pool and a cinema.

A lot of effort has been put into regenerating Corby since the steel-works closed in 1980, with new companies, jobs and housing.

Six years ago Corby was Britain's fastest growing town - and it seems set to keep that accolade. Population projections suggest 6% will come here due to natural growth - that's more babies being born - 5% from people moving from other countries and 5.5% from people moving from elsewhere in Britain.

In the 1930s steelworkers from Scotland transformed the small village into a town of 12,000 people by the outbreak of the Second World War. At the last census its population was 61,000 - by 2024 it's likely to be 76,000.

  18. Council prepares for Corby's 17% population growth by 2024published at 09:56 British Summer Time 15 August 2016

    BBC News

The population of Corby is set to grow by 17% up to 2024 with 76,000 people predicted to make the town their home.

Borough council leaders Tom Beattie said the increase will bring pressure on schools, health services and housing.

"We've managed growth to date and know the challenges it brings for regeneration, new jobs and facilities," he said.
