  2. Train derailment: Information from National Rail Enquiriespublished at 08:35 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    A statement from National Rail Enquiries, external says: "A derailed train between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction means there is major disruption to services between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston. 

    "Two of the lines have reopened at reduced speed through the affected area, but journeys are expected to be delayed by up to 60 minutes. 

    "Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day."

    London Midland trains, external has sent out the latest information after this morning's train derailment in the Watford area. 

    It says fewer trains are running on the lines between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction. 

    Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. 

    Disruption is expected until 13:00. 

    Chiltern Railways, Cross Country, Great Western Railway, London Overground, Thameslink, Virgin Trains, East Midlands Trains and TFL Rail are accepting passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. 

    Arrangements have been made for London Midland rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

  5. Train derailment: Commuters advised to delay journey into Londonpublished at 08:27 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Commuters traveling into London Euston station are being advised to either delay their journey or travel into another London station after a train derailment in a tunnel just outside of Watford at 07:00. 

    Francis Thomas, from London Midland, says as this is a "busy stretch" of track, if "something goes wrong it will take a long time for services to get back to normal".

    He said it had been confirmed by two sources that there were no injuries on the train. 

    Delays are expected until at least lunchtime.

    I've just spoken to British Transport Police which has confirmed officers were called to Hunton Bridge tunnel near Watford at about 07:00 to reports of a landslide. 

    British Transport Police are at the scene along with the East of England Ambulance Service and Herts Fire and Rescue. 

    Passengers are requested to contact Network Rail for train information.

    Emergency services are at the scene of a train derailment between Watford Junction and Kings Langley,, external after a reported landslide. 

    Network Rail says services between Milton Keynes and London Euston will be affected for the rest of the day. 

    All lines are blocked, but London Midland says it's had from two sources that no injuries have been reported.

  11. Train derailment: Latest informationpublished at 07:51 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    A train has derailed near Watford Junction, operator London Midland, external has confirmed.

    It is the 06:19 service from Milton Keynes to Euston, but there are no details of injuries at this time.

    It is understood the accident was caused by flooding in the area.

    A spokesman said London Midland and Virgin services would be "severely disrupted" from the north west of England, Scotland, and the Midlands into Euston station in London.

    Tickets will be accepted on East Midlands trains between Northampton and Wellingborough and coaches have been requested to run between the two stations.

    The Met Office has issued a warning for heavy rain for much of the region for Friday.

    It'll be a mostly cloudy day with thunderstorms and rain - the heavy downpours could lead to some very localised flooding.

    Moderate north westerly winds, with a maximum temperature of 20(C)  (68F).

    As part of a review of his management structure, Northants PCC Stephen Mold has appointed a new chief executive for his office.

    Subject to the approval of the Northamptonshire Police and Crime Panel, Martin Scoble - the former chief executive for the PCC in Humberside - will take the role.

    Mr Scoble previously served with the British Army for 18 years, in which time he planned and led deployments to Afghanistan and acted within the Global Contingency Planning department at RAF headquarters.

    Northamptonshire's PCC Stephen Mold (left), who was elected in May, has announced the results of a staffing review which has saved £170,000 - but not everyone is happy.

    Former Labour MP and Green party spokesman, Tony Clarke, a long-time critic of the role of PCC, said the whole post is "an extravagant irrelevance".

    "Not a single penny is warranted," he said.

    Two men have been charged with rape following an incident in Hardingstone earlier this year.

    Northamptonshire Police revealed today the pair are unlikely to appear in court until January next year.

    Officers cordoned off the underpass at the end of Hardingstone Lane on 4 July, following reports of an assault in the early hours of the morning. 

    Forensic analysis of the area took place for most of the day.

    Cuts announced as part of a review of the office of the police and crime commissioner come despite PCC Stephen Mold having last week placed adverts to recruit three new members of staff, external.

    The three advertised roles - for an early intervention manager, a digital engagement manager and a director for delivery - add up to £158,961 to the office's wage bill.

    The director of delivery role will see a replacement appointed for Kathryn Buckle, chosen by previous PCC Adam Simmonds (pictured) after working as his election agent. The other positions are new roles.
