One year ago today, 74-year-old David Brickwood woke up, confronted by his killers.
They had broken in to his home in Lindsay Avenue, in Northampton's Abington area in the early hours of Saturday, 26 September 2015.
The pensioner was stabbed five times as he attempted to defend himself against his attackers, who got away with cash and jewellery.
He died later from a heart attack, brought on by a loss of blood, his eldest son told me.
"It's been a year and we still don't have answers," Gary Brickwood said.
"Northampton knows who did this. They're gutless and spineless and afraid to talk to the police."
Six people arrested in connection with David Brickwood's death have been released without further action.
No-one's been charged, but police say investigations are continuing.
