    Angela Barnett-Connolly says she suffered serious cuts when her glasses got embedded in her head after an accident on the tram tracks in Beeston.

    Some cyclists say Chilwell Road and High Road are "riddled with dangers" and there are inadequate or confusing signs.

    Operators NET have told Mrs Barnett-Connolly there's no evidence the tram lines are defective but she says she is still preparing to pursue legal action.

  5. Court hears man left scene after crashpublished at 17:21

    I'm in court where the trial of Matthew Scrimshaw has heard how he caused a crash in December last year with "incredibly dangerous driving."

    He denies charges of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Prosecuting, Mr Steven Coupland said he was driving on the wrong side of the road when he hit Iris Higginson's Corsa.

    Mr Coupland said Mr Scrimshaw from Newthorpe did not call police and left the scene.

  6. Development for wasteland important, says councillorpublished at 17:10

    The 17 hectare area wasteland off London Road is one of the largest development sites in Nottingham city centre.

    Now there are plans for about 500-600 homes, office space and open space on the site and councillor Jane Urqhart, who is responsible for regeneration is the city, says it's about time.

  7. Speeding driver 'twice over drink drive limit'published at 16:59

    A man has appeared in court charged with causing the death of 67-year-old Iris Higginson in a crash in Mansfield Road, Eastwood, last year.

    Nottingham Crown Court heard Matthew Scrimshaw had been drinking with a friend and was almost double the drink drive limit when he got behind the wheel of his Audi TT on 9 December 2014.

    Moments before the crash Mr Scrimshaw's car was caught on CCTV driving at 90mph in a 30 zone.

    He denies the charges.

  9. G4S 'disappointed' police rejected dealpublished at 16:35

    A G4S spokesman says the firm are "disappointed" Leicestershire Police has decided against using its company to answer control room calls.

    John Shaw said: "We firmly believe that we can help police forces unlock resources in their support functions to release money for front-line policing and keep more officers on the beat."  

  10. 'Reindeer are not Christmas decorations'published at 16:16

    PETA, a charity that's dedicated to the protection of animals, has spoken out aftera reindeer escaped from a festive eventoutside Tesco in Carlton yesterday.

    The Animal Charity, which organised the event, said Bjorn the reindeer was "calm and relaxed" after he was re-captured.

  11. New plans announced for derelict sitepublished at 16:00

    Here at the BBC offices we've had to look at this derelict land and the empty warehouse in the distance for a long time.

    Eight years ago the site off London Road was given planning permission for a huge development but nothing happened.

    Then in 2011 the city council rejected plans for a supermarket there.  

    On Wednesday, councillors will consider proposals to build hundreds of homes on the site and more office space.

    Animal rights charity PETA -  the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - says reindeer should never be used in Christmas events after one escaped from a supermarket car park yesterday.

    Kirsty Henderson, campaigns co-ordinator for the charity, says it’s a cruel practice and animals shouldn't be exploited for entertainment.

  15. Force's alliance could be in place in five yearspublished at 15:04

    A spokesman for the Unison union says it is "good news for members and the public" that Nottinghamshire has decided not to go ahead with the deal for G4S to run the control room.

    A full alliance between the force, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire could be in place by 2020.

    The private security firm were brought in by Lincolnshire Police in 2012 to run some backroom services including the control room, and they have claimed it has been successful.

    After a few months of deliberation, it’s been decided your 999 calls will be answered by police staff after all.

    Nottinghamshire police were toying with the idea of hiring a private firm to do the job.

    But they’ve just revealed they will keep their in-house staff, but they will form a closer alliance with police in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire to save money.

    That will mean sharing top officers and using more joined-up IT to track criminals.
