    The story of the escaped reindeer has caused a few laughs this morning but the good news is that Bjorn is OK and recovering.

    On our Facebook page, external Marie Henson, wrote: "He looks so sassy...Humph, Wait til Santa hears all about this!!"

    More now on Bjorn the reindeer, who made a bid for freedom from a festive event at Carlton Tesco yesterday.

    Tesco told me they're "pleased he was back in time to help Santa with some important deliveries this week".

    Bjorn was caught in a nearby garden after running free in Carlton for about 10 minutes.

    Witness Warren Porter said it was one of the "weirdest, unexpected sights" he'd ever seen.

    "I locked my doors and thought, 'you're not getting in here, I've got carrots in my boot'," he said.

    Now we've just head that the car blocking Mansfield Road has been moved but if you're coming into town for a spot of shopping this afternoon, you might want to plan where you're going to park beforehand.

    There are long queues into Fletcher Gate car park and Trinity Square, Arndale and Euro car parks are already reporting that they're full.

  9. MP supports call for safer trams for cyclistspublished at 11:43

    Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry has shown support for the cyclist who is trying to raise awareness of the danger of the tram tracks.

    She said the layout on parts of High Road / Chilwell Road is confusing and has heard of several people being injured.

    "Some have had very, very bad injuries," she said. "I have warned the city council they will be liable because they are not taking measures to keep cyclists safe."

  10. Bjorn the reindeer 'resting' after escape ordealpublished at 11:24

    The owners of a reindeer that escaped from an event at Carlton Tesco yesterday and ran amok in the streets have said he was unharmed.

    Bjorn ran off after he was reportedly spooked by a car horn as he was being offloaded from his trailer.

    He was on the run for 10 minutes before a woman in "festive" attire chased after him and he was caught in a nearby garden.

    Nathan Anderson-Dixon said he's now "resting in his stable".

  11. Cyclist warns about danger of tram trackspublished at 10:41

    Cyclist Angela Barnett-Connolly says she had a lucky escape when her front wheel got caught in the tram tracks.

    She said she felt like she was cycling on glass when the accident happened on Chilwell Road in Beeston in July.

    She was taken to the QMC for treatment but says NET urgently needs to put a cycle path along that stretch of road.

  12. Reindeer 'runs loose in Carlton'published at 10:23

    Not something you see every day...

    A reindeer, believed to be named Bjorn, ran amok through the streets of Carlton yesterday after it escaped from a festive event at Tesco.

    Warren Porter, who took this amazing picture, told me he thought it was a "big dog" at first.

    "As it got close I couldn't believe my eyes so took a photo," he said.

    He said a woman "in festive gear" came chasing after it with a rope shortly afterwards.

    Last night in Belfast was a glitzy affair and a great night for one Nottingham girl.

    Gymnast Ellie Downie picked up the Young Sports Personality of the Year award, beating jockey Tom Marquand and Para-swimmer Tully Kearney.

    The 16-year-old won bronze at the European Championships in April to become Britain's first female gymnast to win an individual all-around medal.
