  1. Brain tumour fundraiser, 12, diespublished at 14:27

    Some sad news - a 12-year-old girl who raised more than £35,000 for new brain tumour research, has died.

    Sophie Robinson, who was treated at the Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre in Nottingham, was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.

    She organised charity bike rides and auctions to help fund new treatment at the centre, based at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Children's Hospital.

    She died peacefully on Tuesday at her home in Lincoln. Her family said on Facebook she put up a "fight right to the end" and died peacefully, on Tuesday.

  2. Jerusalem favourite for national anthempublished at 14:10

    So what should England's national anthem be? Well, the most popular suggestion is Jerusalem. 

    Prime Minister David Cameron has said that would be his choice, as does the campaign group England In My Heart.

    Another campaign group, Anthem 4 England, said Jerusalem has come out as favourite in previous polls.

    Member Gareth Young said: "It's a beautiful song and it actually mentions and is about England, unlike its competitors."

    You've been having your say over on our Facebook page , externalabout whether England should have its own national anthem.

    MPs are voting today after Labour's Toby Perkins suggested a public consultation to decide on the best song.

    Lewis Townsend wrote: "I don't think England's national anthem applies to its people as it once did. I don't think it represents what England represents. No idea what I'd change it to though, I don't really see the point in national anthems!"

    "Yes, England needs their own anthem and we should use the 'national anthem' for team GB. I think Jerusalem would be a good choice," said Debra Morley

    However some disagreed, including Simon Wright, who wrote: "No, England does not need a new anthem just because some left wing labour MP decides to suggest a bill calling for one."

  4. Terrorism trial: Sutton man 'Guilty Muslim' on social mediapublished at 13:24

    More now on the Sutton-in-Ashfield man who's on trial at the Old Bailey accused of terrorism offences.

    The jury's been told that Adeel Ulhaq used the name "Guilty Muslim" on social media.

    Prosecution say the trial is not about the rights and wrongs of the Syria conflict.

    More now on the wedding party that got locked inside Newark Castle!

    "You plan your nice, beautiful wedding, which you expect to be the most wonderful day of your life, you go out the back take a few photos in the castle grounds only to find out you're locked in," explained Lee Perry.

    He and around 50 guests were left stuck behind the castle gates in the dark and rain for an hour!

    He said he can laugh about it now and it certainly made a day to remember!

  7. Acquitted eviction fight son: 'Never back down'published at 12:21

    Tom Crawford's son Craig has reacted on Facebook after his trial was halted.

    "Well well well!!!! Not guilty. Four of us representing ourselves.... Awarded costs! Winners!!!! ‪#‎neverbackdown‬," he posted.

    He and six others were accused of breaking into and occupying his father's home in the weeks that followed his eviction in July.

    In January 2015, more than 250 people blocked an attempt to evict Tom Crawford and his wife Sue from their home in Carlton.

    A man from Sutton-in-Ashfield has gone on trial at the Old Bailey accused of terrorism offences.

    Adeel Ulhaq denies charges of "funding terrorism" and "preparing acts of terrorism".

    The prosecution say he is one of three men who helped a teenager travel to Syria to fight for IS.

    They claim he gave travel advice online and had a network of contacts to help people join the Syria conflict.

    All seemed to be going swimmingly at the weekend for Lee Perry and his new wife...

    After the service at Newark's register office, the party went to have photos taken in the grounds of the castle only to get locked in for an hour!

    There were around 50 guests, and kids were a bit scared but they're all laughing about it now, he said.

    "At first it wasn't funny - it was kind of embarrassing that you've invited all these guests to share your special day and they end up locked in. You feel like it's your fault," said Lee.

    Remember the story about Tom Crawford who was evicted from his home in Carlton last year?

    Well a group of people who were accused of breaking into and occupying his home have had their trial thrown out of court.

    Mr Crawford, 64, had disputed claims he owed Bradford & Bingley £43,000 in mortgage payments prior to his eviction in July.

    Seven people, including Mr Crawford's son, were on trial but inconsistencies in evidence from key witnesses meant the trial at Leicester Crown Court has been halted.

    Back at Nottingham Crown Court today as the trial continues of three men accused of murdering two teens and a baby in Langley Mill, last year.

    Peter Eyre, 44, Simon Eyre, 24, and Anthony Eyre, 22, from Sandiacre deny murder.

    Nottingham Forest will have to decide whether to appeal David Vaughan's red card from last night's 1-1 draw with Birmingham at the City Ground.

    Referee Mark Brown's performance has been criticised by both clubs.

  15. Carlton murder: Victim was 'targeted for cash'published at 09:51

    Det Supt Rob Griffin, who's investigating the murder of Tony Fisher in Carlton on Saturday, said the 58-year-old was targeted because burglars "expected him to have a large amount of money in the house".

    He said a "key time" for the investigation was between 22:30 and 23:00 GMT on Friday and urged people to think back to whether they saw anything suspicious around his home in Coningswath Road.

    Nine people have been arrested.

    The match was dominated by referee Mark Brown's performance - he sent off David Vaughan with 16 minutes remaining, a decision actually questioned by both managers. 

    The Reds will now decide whether to appeal that dismissal.

    They are seven men, aged between 22 and 47, and two women, aged 28 and 42, 

    They were arrested on Tuesday and are currently in police custody.
