    The row over whether the Beckhampton Centre should stay open has been rumbling on for some time now 

    It is one of only a handful of places in the country that offers help to young mums when mainstream school aren't suitable.

    Nottingham City Council says it has been considering closing the centre in Bestwood, external because teen pregnancy rates have halved in Nottingham since 1998 and girls will continue to be supported in a mainstream school.

    An education centre for teenage mums in Nottingham has been recommended for closure - despite a campaign to save it.

    The Beckhampton centre in Bestwood has helped hundreds of teenage mums in the city continue their education for the last three decades - but the council says they could be taught in local schools instead.

    The city council says it won't comment before next week's executive board meeting - where the decision is expected to be approved.

    Victorian obsessed Mr Saunders says he decided to create the room after his neighbours told him the house used to be a grocery store until the 1920s and was a sweet shop in the 70s.

    He told the Daily Mail , externalearlier this week, he had spent more than £10,000 on transforming the house since he bought it in 2004.

    Mr Saunders, who works for Nottinghamshire County Council, opens up his home for tours and it is also going to be used as a backdrop for an upcoming documentary about English actor Cary Grant.

    It looks like we've entered a time warp, but believe it or not this is what a house in Kimberley looks like today.

    The owner Peter Saunders has turned one of his rooms into an old-fashioned Victorian sweet shop.

    He has spent years restoring his four-bedroom Edwardian cottage back to its original state, and having trawled antique fairs and car boot sales for memorabilia, this is the result.

    Nottinghamshire Police has been told to improve the way they help crime victims - particularly children.

    Government inspectors say the force needs to do more to support vulnerable victims especially in domestic and child sex abuse cases. 

    In all others areas they were classed as "good".

    Former Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Steve Hodge says Chris Cohen's one-year contract extension is a good deal for everyone.

    He told me: "Forest couldn't give him a longer term deal with his knee problems but I think it suits both parties to give him another year and see how he goes.

    "He could probably play 25 games per season, either in midfielder or left back, and certainly be a valued member of the squad. You don't get many players who play 40 games a season these days anyway."

    Bulwell councillor, Alan Clark, says he thinks more information about what has happened at the St Mary's Medical Centre will come out soon "at an appropriate point".

    He said: "It is only fair to give the doctor some chance to address what those clinical concerns are."

    He said there was a phone number for patients to call if they had any concerns about their medical care.

    A sign has been placed on the gates of St Mary's Medical Centre telling patients where they can go if they need an appointment while the surgery is closed.

    But the closure of the practice has had a knock-on effect for other local health professionals.

    Dayaram Mistry, a pharmacist in Top Valley, says there’s been a lack of information about the closure and told me: “One patient came to me worried that he was going to run out of his medication."

    We now know that 1,100 patients in Top Valley have suddenly had to find a new GP, after St Mary's Medical Centre closed.

    The Care Quality Commission ordered its temporary closure after an inspection last week concluded it failed to meet expected standards.

    The surgery has been told to make "necessary improvements" but the CQC says because of the legal process it won't disclose what problems were found or what improvements are needed.
