    The owner of two horses has been left devastated after their manes were hacked off.

    One of the horses was attacked on Tuesday, sometime between 08:00-16:00, in a field in Bildworth, near Mansfield.

    The other horse was targeted in an identical attack five weeks ago, its owners said.

    They believe the attackers climbed over barbed wire and electric fence in order to destroy the manes.

    Nottingham Trent University has confirmed that flammable cladding on Byron Residence won't be removed in time for the new academic year.

    The cladding is the same as on the Grenfell Tower block in London, where a fire killed at least 80 people.

    A university spokesman said the blocks, owned and managed by a firm called UPP, will remain unoccupied until the work is complete.

    A deli in Derbyshire has had its alcohol licence revoked after repeatedly selling illegal cigarettes.

    Derbyshire County Council’s trading standards officers found counterfeit goods at Zabcia, in High Street, Alfreton, on five different occasions.

    The decision to revoke the licence was made at Amber Valley Borough Council's licensing sub-committee yesterday.

    The sale of tobacco products does not require a licence in the United Kingdom. However, a licence to sell alcohol can be revoked if criminal activity is found to be taking place on the premises.

    Carol Hart, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for Health and Communities, said: “This isn’t the type of action our trading standards team take lightly as we’re here to support businesses wherever possible.

    “But when a business repeatedly flouts the law – despite receiving warnings – we’ll do all we can to protect the livelihood of legitimate traders."

    An anonymous photographer - known as "Banksy of the photographic world" - has agreed to become the ambassador for Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire.

    Villager Jim, who is famous for his stunning wildlife and countryside images - including one of a sleeping Labrador - said he is very excited about being asked to help raise awareness of the Peak District, Derbyshire, and the tourist board’s marketing campaigns.

    He said: “I feel very honoured that Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire has asked me to become an ambassador because it enables me to play an even more active part in letting as many people as possible know about this beautiful area where we are so privileged to live and work,” he said.

    Police have seized a substantial amount of drugs from a car in Chesterfield.

    Officers stopped and searched a Volkswagen Passat in Lockoford Lane on Monday, and found a large amount of what they believed was amphetamine.

    A 55-year-old man from Stretton in Derbyshire has been charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

    He appeared at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to appear at Derby Crown Court on 19 September.

    A man was taken to hospital following the attack in Gawthorne Street, New Basford, at around 13:40.

    A cordon was in place around the Pelham pub for a number of hours while officers carried out searches.

    A man has been arrested following a police pursuit last night.

    The 36-year-old, from Normanton in Derby, is in custody being questioned following the police chase on the A38, near Burton-on-Trent, shortly before 22:00 BST.

    Officers said the pursuit started when they saw a vehicle being driven erratically on the Branston Underpass.

    A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said the driver eventually lost control and stopped after a “minor collision”.

    The arrested man is being questioned on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer.

    Leicester's Grand Hotel was transformed into the Bombay Club in colonial Mumbai for a major Bollywood film.

    Gold, an epic new film, tells the story of India's Olympic hockey players in 1936 and 1948 and stars Akshay Kumar, one of Bollywood's biggest stars (pictured).

    It was filmed mostly in Yorkshire, including Bradford, Rotherham and Doncaster.

    It's part of a growing trend for Indian movies shot in the UK - there were less than five shot here between 2006 and 2008, compared to 22 between 2015 and today.

    Movie production in the UK has grown 72% since 2014, the Office for National Statistics has reported.

    Derbyshire Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery to get in touch.

    Officers have said that a 28-year-old man was walking along Curzon Street in Derby at about midnight on Wednesday 16 August when he was approached by a man who demanded cash.

    He gave the robber money and the robber walked off toward Uttoxeter New Road, police said.

    The suspect has been described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, about 6ft 3ins tall, slim, and wearing a long grey puffer jacket and shorts.

    The heart-shaped piece of jewellery dates from the 15th Century and was found at Kirby Muxloe Castle in Leicestershire.

    It may have been a gift from nobleman William Hastings to his wife, Katherine.

    Hastings was executed by Richard as the fortress was being built - just a month before he took the crown.

    It has a guide price of £6,000 to £8,000 at Hanson's Auctioneers.
