Families have complained a council has removed items from graves at Kirby Muxloe Cemetery without warning.

Wayne Lally said his family had spent about £1,000 on items for a relative's memorial which have now been removed with no notice.

He said: "It's disgusting. What they've done is completely wrong."

Another woman said it came as a "complete shock" to find a notice on her parent's grave, warning her that a bush planted in 1988 broke cemetery rules.

She does not know if she has to remove the shrubbery or not.

We've been in touch with Kirby Muxloe Parish Council but so far have we've not received a response.

Notices attached to some graves suggest they are "failing to comply with rules and regulations" and warn visitors items will be removed in the interest of maintaining a "safe, tranquil and dignified environment".

The BBC has been speaking to people in Derby about anti-social behaviour at Halloween.

It's after the news yesterday that Derbyshire Police are planning to double the number of officers on duty in some areas of the city after disruption last year.

One woman in the Allestree area said she had her door superglued by trick or treaters.

She said: "I couldn't understand why the door didn't work. People then worked out for me what had happened and it was trick or treaters. I'm on a very low income and it cost me quite a lot of money so I was quite angry."

Another woman in the same area said she had eggs thrown at her car on Halloween a few years ago.

Both said they welcome the increase in policing this year.

  5. Hospital parking 'penalising' vulnerable patientspublished at 08:28 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

Campaigners have criticised Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust for charging blue badge holders for parking.

It costs £1.80 at King's Mill and Newark Hospitals and £1.50 for parking at Mansfield Hospital.

The trust says the cash goes back into hospital services and patients on certain benefits can reclaim the charges.

But Liz Silver from Nottinghamshire Disabled People's Movement says it is penalising the most vulnerable.

She said: "People have blue badges because they find it very, very difficult to get around, primarily it means they won't be able to use public transport or walk any sort of distance.

"So getting to hospital in a car and using a blue badge might be their only option."

Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, which runs QMC and City Hospital, do not charge for designated blue badge spaces.

Multimillion-pound plans to fit sprinklers in high-rise flats in Nottingham are expected to get the go-ahead today.

The government has so far refused to foot the bill for the work in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

They said sprinklers are additional but not essential to make tower blocks safer.
