    Mountain rescuers spent almost three hours searching for a family who got lost in the mist at Kinder Scout at the weekend.

    A total of 19 rescuers were involved in the hunt for two adults, three children and a dog who had called for help at about 16:30 on Saturday.

    Mobile phone location technology was used to trace them to a spot near Hayfield just before 19:30 and the family were escorted to safety, external.

    A woman has suffered serious facial injuries, external in an assault in Derby city centre, Derbyshire police said.

    Officers said the woman was discovered by a passer-by in Friary Street at about 07:20 yesterday.

    She had suffered severe injuries to her face, including several fractures. Witnesses have been asked to call 101.

    There's anger among people living in Bingham as the town prepares to lose its last bank.

    The Lloyds branch will close for good in May next year after a review found, external customers are using it less often.

    This means there'll be no banks in Bingham, Radcliffe on Trent or Cotgrave.

    One person in the town called the decision "a disgrace".

    Another said: "When I came here 15 years ago we had a Halifax, Lloyds and Natwest. It's a shame really."

    Lloyds is recommending customers use the Post Office in the town to do their banking or take cash out.

    The bank has also said there will be a mobile branch, which will visit the area on certain dates.

    Some people waited more than two hours to see the Coca Cola truck in Mansfield yesterday.

    Just look at how long the queue was. People travelled from as far away as Stratford.

    The truck is making 42 visits across the UK in the build up to Christmas - later this week it will be in Nottingham.

  7. Student block cladding removed in wake of Grenfell tragedypublished at 08:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2017

    Work is due to start today to remove cladding on a student accommodation block in Nottingham similar to that used on London's Grenfell Tower.

    Byron House has been empty ever since it emerged it was covered in the material earlier this year.

    Nottingham Trent University says the cladding will now be replaced with an aluminium alternative, with the work due to take about 30 weeks to complete.

  9. Man 'pulls child away from mother'published at 08:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2017

    A woman has reported a man trying to pull her child away from her as she walked along a footpath in Loughborough.

    The mother and her five-year-old son were between Warwick Way and Braddon Road on Friday evening when a man pulled the boy away, Leicestershire police said.

    Officers said the boy is "safe and well" but both he and his mother are shaken by what happened.

    Neighbourhood officers spent time in the area over the weekend "offering reassurance" to the local community.

    A driver stopped by police in Long Eaton yesterday claimed the only reason the vehicle was uninsured was because it wasn't possible to buy car insurance on a Sunday.

    The excuse fell on deaf ears and the vehicle was confiscated.

    A fire at a taxi office in Derby city centre yesterday is being treated as arson.

    Eight fire crews were called to the blaze at PJ Cars in Curzon Street at about 09:45.

    The street was cordoned off and a nearby church and restaurant were evacuated but nobody was injured.

    • The A46 is closed southbound between the A6006 and A607 because of a crash between two lorries. Long delays.
    • Slow traffic on Oak Tree Lane in Mansfield - the road is partially blocked due to a crash involving two vehicles near Cotswold Grove.
    • There are delays on the M1 into the roadworks southbound at J25. Travel time is 34 minutes.
