    The League of Gentlemen, filmed in part in Hadfield in Derbyshire, is returning for three Christmas specials on 18, 19 and 20 December on BBC Two.

    Intu, the company which owns three shopping centres in the East Midlands, could be bought out by a rival.

    The takeover by Hammerson is reported to be worth £3.4bn and will see the larger firm running Nottingham's Victoria Centre, Broadmarsh Shopping Centre and Derby's Intu.

    Hammerson already owns Highcross shopping centre in Leicester.

    The share offer comes as a full planning application is expected for the redevelopment of the Broadmarsh Centre.

    Shares in Intu rose by 18% at the start of trading today following the announcement.

    Shocking pictures of a crash between a car and a lorry on the A52 at Radcliffe-on-Trent this morning that's closed the eastbound side.

    The two men who were cut out of the car are being treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

    It happened at about 06:30 between the RSPCA junction at Nottingham Road and Lees Barn Road, according to Nottinghamshire Police.

    Traffic's still being diverted along Stragglethorpe Road.

    A second CCTV vehicle could be used to catch more people parking dangerously outside schools in Nottinghamshire.

    The current camera car has helped issue 900 penalty notices for inconsiderate parking at schools and bus stops between January and September this year.

    From one East Midlands swimming star to another.

    Double 2008 Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington has been giving her support to Adam Peaty who's in the running for BBC Sports Personality 2017.

    She said she's "never known an athlete be so consistent and so dominant" as the 22-year-old former City of Derby swimmer, who now trains at Loughborough.

    "Adam is just so special in every single way. You can't replicate Adam. He's created a new mould that everyone wants to copy," said the Mansfield swimmer.

    There are calls for significant investment to improve rail services in Newark - following the announcement of a rise in ticket prices.

    The average ticket price will go up by 3.4% in January.

    More trains were added on the route serving Nottingham and Lincoln in 2015 after a long running campaign led by Newark Business Club.T

    These passengers say the route can be over crowded at times.

    East Midlands Trains said it is currently using its entire rolling stock.

    A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital following an assault in Alvaston.

    He was riding along the alleyway towards the canal path near Avonmouth Drive when he passed a group of youths yesterday at about 18:00.

    Derbyshire Police said the boy felt a blow to his back and thought he had been punched but he later realised he had been cut.

    Kelechi Iheanacho (pictured) joined Leicester from Manchester City for £25m this summer - more than 50 times the record fee paid by opponents Scunthorpe United.

    The Nigerian started up front alongside Leonardo Ulloa as City edged past the League One side.

    Two youngsters - George Thomas and Sam Hughes - put the Foxes into an early lead.

    Kevin van Veen pulled one back for the Iron just before the break, although just 824 fans were there to see it.
